CORSnet-NSW is a precise positioning service that gives users access to fast and accurate positioning and guidance solutions across NSW. In recent years, precise positioning and guidance systems have emerged as useful tools across a variety of applications such as:

• Surveying

• Agriculture

• Construction

• Emergency services

• Mining

• Scientific research

• Asset management

CORSnet-NSW uses the latest Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) technology to provide an accurate spatial reference network for NSW and support the growing number of precise positioning and guidance applications throughout the State.

How does it work?

The service is delivered by a network of permanent GNSS receivers – known as Continuously Operating Reference Stations (CORS) – that are strategically located across NSW. The CORSnet-NSW network continuously observes and corrects satellite navigation signals in order to achieve international standard, high accuracy positioning data for NSW. The data is streamed to users via a wireless internet connection.

Logs

26-Jan-24
Picture taken took a while to get a view

28-Oct-19
Walking through this area logging both GA & GC finds. Quiet lively this area late afternoon. TFTC.

05-Jan-19
Found with the geofamily on the way to and from the beach.

04-Jan-19
It was a short, but fun search for this one. We didn't think it was going to be there...

04-Jan-19
It's still there! Came down the street and parked in an alley and all four of us (including non-caching mum) walked up and down the street looking for the sneaky little thing.

As per other trigs that have been removed and a simple bolt or disk marker/concrete pad is all that remains, the de-commissioning of a CORs does not mean it needs to be archived, therefore this one is being reinstated.

If the next cacher who searches for this CORs confirms that it is missing, it can then be archived.....otherwise, it's all fair game.

Decommissioned 03/10/2013

Not often does it happen that I get seven GCA caches and just two GC caches. Well today it happened while I made the area around Redfern and Broadway unsafe with my presence.

This one has been decommissioned in 2013.

strange little hidden away cors in a place i wouldn't want to wander into alone at night.

12-Sep-15
Found on the way around town. Looking at past photos I believe the CORS has been removed as it only appears to be the table now that it used to sit on

#GA511 - 14:10; I had managed to find most of the CBD trigs on previous visits to the city, so headed further afield today to try for a couple more, along with some other caches in the area. Managed to spot the CORS on the roof and grabbed the required snap before heading on my way again. TFTC Geocaching Australia Very Happy

26-Apr-15
A last quick one to fill in time before the train leaves.

24-Sep-14
Decided to go for a walk at lunchtime and this isn't far from the office location at Surry Hills these days. I had looked once before without spotting it, but after checking out Zal's photo I knew the angle I had to be on to spot something that could almost be mistaken for a chimney. Grabbed the snap before continuing on to get a nearby GC find during the same trip.

09-Jan-13
This one has been on the radar for a while. Finally got there today and surprised I'm still only the 2TF!

27-Aug-12
With nothing planned for today I thought i would make a quick trip into town and look for this CORS Trig Station.
No problem finding the right building and the Trig is easily visible from street level.
