Description

A trig station located about 600 metres E of Bendemeer TS10581.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

First up I had stopped by Tim Robinson on the Oxley Highway, as the original coordinates seemed to be on his property. He was CERTAIN that there was no such survey marker on the obvious rise. However when I got closer to Bendemeer and took a look to the left I saw it up the hill from Haidee Street. I checked at the house on the corner (#16) nobody was at home, but the neighbour said to check with Johnny down near the highway. Sure enough, John Keen owns the land, and was very amenable to people asking to go and take a photo; (1-17 Havannah Street). We had a lovely chat about my occupation, and I was able to reassure him on the future health options.
He suggested that I drive up to it - that was a bit hard, as an electric fence was keeping a group of horses in place. Easy to bypass that, and soon got up and personal with a well maintained concrete Hotine-style trig, with post, vanes, and nameplate intact! 1140, Sunday, 13 August. DancingSurprised

We were having trouble spotting this, our GPS was saying it was 800m off, but what we eventually spotted seemed much closer? Samuel had the eagle eyes in the end....

#GA5209 - 17:25; Day 11 of a road trip with Sol de lune for the CacheQLD - Dayboro Mega and we are now headed for home. After spending the night in Glen Innes, we headed south caching our way through Ben Lomond, Guyra, Armidale, Uralla then across Walcha. Stopped near Bendemeer for a snap of this trig as we made our way towards Tamworth where we plan to spend the night. TFTT Geocaching Australia Very HappyClan Cerberus

On our way home from the Oz geo Muster (MEGA) at Morisset and only going as far as Armidale today so plenty of time to indulge in my third best past time. ( Eating Chocolate and going places with Mrs YOF being #1 and #2).
Gpsr wanted us to go onto the Oxley Highway and turn right into one of the side street. We came to the end and could see the TRIG from there. When we went into Bendemeer and on the way out we could see the TRIG from a point just prior to coming back onto the new England Highway. As this one is on private property unable to get any closer. Travelling north and another trig to log Very Happy. TFTC.

Noticed from other logs that it was behind a caravan park so after finding the Engineering marker near the bridge looked up & saw it in the distance. Barely visible.

Thought originally that this trig was going to be the tower but when we drove up a gravel road to try and get closer we spotted the more traditional trig marker nearby.
Our photo is taken from a distance as the trig is on private property but if you blow it up enough you will see the black dot on the white base to the left of the tree.
Thanks.

QLD Mega trip 2015 with Sol de Lune. On this almost 400km road trip we drove from Canberra to Stanthorpe caching in all the towns along the way with mostly great success. Around the Mega there were heaps of caches to be done including a few power trails. Despite the weather we got all of the planned caches done.

We saw this trig on the way north. Thanks.

Also managed to spot this one while attempting Bridge 7. Photo grabbed and then moved on.

Two caches in one! This was easily spotted while at Bridge 7.

Driving south from Armidale to Tamworth kept an eye out for trig points from the NSW place names register that I'd added to the car GPS. Spotted this one on a hill at Bendemeer. Looks like on a farm property but able to snap it from the road okay.
