Description

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself. This cache-type requires you to take a photo of yourself at the the Trig.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to. This trig is VERY close to GCWFNZ, Where Southerners Meet cache, by Liz and Bruce.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

A nice easy find with a great view. No campers at this spot today so we managed to snag a park in the shade before making the short and easy walk up to the lookout. Certainly a beautiful part of the coast. It would have been nice with the vanes still intact but we are glad it is still here at all.

The nearby campers appeared offended that I invaded their space, sorry people, nerd at work here! A quick visit after checking out the nearby Trig at Brooms Head. It’s a shame this one has been capped. I could have gotten some good images at this location. Even though only the pillar remains it’s still better than most Queensland Trigs. This Queensland Trig hunter is glad he lives close to the border haha. Thanks for the cache Smile

This would have been quite the trig in its heyday, its lacking its vanes now, but still in a great spot.

Horrified to realise that we had to head down a gravel road to get to this one but at least the bit of rain last night helped keep the dust away.
A short flat walk soon had us at GZ where the required snapshot was taken. Then it was off to look for the nearby GC cache.
Thanks.

Was time to get outside again, and this trig, and a couple of close by caches were on our list. Once we found the right spot to park, this one was easy! Trig’s name plate is now missing. Great views from this spot – from Brooms Head, to the place we needed to walk 5km away to claim a couple of caches. A trig with a view. Loved it!

Beautiful spot but wet and windy weather on the way.

1528 A quick walk up from the camping car park to find GCWFNZ cache, Where Southerners Meet, and found this trig. Hadn't seen it on my searches so set to finding out what it is called (no name plate on it).
Thanks to rogerw3 for accessing the required info.
Obviously they are not as useful to surveyors as they were when I was hunting them in Sydney back in the 80s.
