Description

Official name of this Trig Station as per NSW Department of Lands is: Crookwell CORS.

 Serial number is:   TS 12150.

Last Inspected on: No Data.

Elevation is: 916.174 metres.

Receiver Type: TRIMBLE NETR9

CORS (Continually Operating Reference Stations) collecting geodetic data from GNSS.

Information regarding CORS including a picture of the receiver can be found on the Land & Property Information site (a NSW Government Service) via http://www.lpi.nsw.gov.au/surveying/corsnet-nsw/network_information

CORSnet-NSW is a precise positioning service that gives users access to fast and accurate positioning and guidance solutions across NSW. In recent years, precise positioning and guidance systems have emerged as useful tools across a variety of applications such as:

• Surveying

• Agriculture

• Construction

• Emergency services

• Mining

• Scientific research

• Asset management

CORSnet-NSW uses the latest Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) technology to provide an accurate spatial reference network for NSW and support the growing number of precise positioning and guidance applications throughout the State.

How does it work?

The service is delivered by a network of permanent GNSS receivers – known as Continuously Operating Reference Stations (CORS) – that are strategically located across NSW. The CORSnet-NSW network continuously observes and corrects satellite navigation signals in order to achieve international standard, high accuracy positioning data for NSW. The data is streamed to users via a wireless internet connection.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the CORS, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself.  You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the CORS.

Second day of caching in the Goulburn/Crookwell area. The weather is perfect, nice and clear and low twenties, all you can wish for caching. Again a lot of nice caches and a few I missed yesterday, all finished at the event at the historic waterworks. Then rushing back to the Illawarra to make the home event there!
Thanks to all the cache owners for putting out the caches, keep up the good work and nice to have met a few of you last night.

We had reached Crookwell where we had already collected a few GC caches when we dropped by this CORS for me to take some happy snaps as Sdl already had this one in the bag from a previous visit.
