Orange CORS TS12102

Serial number is:   TS12102.

Last Inspected on: No Data.

Elevation is:        881.536 metres.

Receiver Type: LEICA GRX1200+GNSS

CORS station, collecting geodetic data from GNSS (Continually Operating Reference Stations).

CORSnet-NSW is a precise positioning service that gives users access to fast and accurate positioning and guidance solutions across NSW. In recent years, precise positioning and guidance systems have emerged as useful tools across a variety of applications such as:

• Surveying

• Agriculture

• Construction

• Emergency services

• Mining

• Scientific research

• Asset management

CORSnet-NSW uses the latest Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) technology to provide an accurate spatial reference network for NSW and support the growing number of precise positioning and guidance applications throughout the State.

How does it work?

The service is delivered by a network of permanent GNSS receivers – known as Continuously Operating Reference Stations (CORS) – that are strategicallylocated across NSW. The CORSnet-NSW network continuously observes and corrects satellite navigation signals in order to achieve international standard, high accuracy positioning data for NSW. The data is streamed to users via a wireless internet connection.

Sophoutloud and I are out in Orange for an ultimate disc tournament so we made the plan to stay out here a couple of nights and make a weekend of it. There is a couple of Trigs and caches around Orange and after running for 3 hours chasing a frisbee we didn’t feel like doing much else too active so we decided caching was the order for the day. This was a bit of a challenge to see in the dark and with all the massive London Plane trees around it but managed to get a photo of what looks like some aerials on the roof

A quick stop passing through the area, hard to get a good angle

A very cold day to be out chasing Trigs with GLiSS! Some had budding scientists visiting them and others, like this one, were a little quieter. Great to have another one in the bag. Now to shoot some battleships!

In Orange for dinner, so grabbed a few trigs while I was here.

I used a previous log to try and find this trig as it is barely visible. Once found I took two of my own photos which I have attached. Definitely a more challenging trig to find. TFTT Geocaching Australia. Clan CerberusClan Cerberus

A big day of caching between Orange and Wellington and back. Great weather, able to squeeze in a parkrun as well and caches were all found straight forward.

Today we were passing through Orange and stopped to hopefully photograph this CORS antenna. However we spent 40 minutes walking round the building, moving further and further away but could not spot the CORS antenna. Maybe we were just suffering CORS blindness or maybe it has been moved.
On arriving at our accommadation we checked the posted photos. Some definitely show a CORS antenna but it is not present in the most recent ones.
Will check again next time we pass by

#GA2428 - 15:45; Day five, the last day of the summer sojourn in the Blue Mountains with the geohoney. After an enjoyable few days based in Leura, the time had come to pack up and head for home. It was also time to do one last quick caching run around the area while the other half finished getting ready for the trip. After collecting some caches in Leura and doing a sweep through Wentworth Falls, we were now packed up and headed for home the back way through Bathurst, Orange and Canowindra with a view to adding a few caches as well as a few dragonZones to the tally. After reaching Bathurst we headed off to have a look at the Mount Panorama circuit, stopping for some trigs along the way as well as at the top of the mountain Dancing A few more stops as we passed back through the town and then along the highway. We had now reached Orange and after grabbing an easy trig, this one required a bit more work and a zoom lens to be able to actually locate the CORS and get the snap I needed after doing a bit of a circuit around the building. On an Orange surrounds trig hunt with rogerw3 in Wintery conditions ...

A handy parking spot opposite the building and with rogerw3 primed for the 'correct' structure to seek, the exhaust stack was quickly dismissed - and the CORS sighted with little difficulty. It does take a steady hand and a good lens to capture a photo but the CORS itself is easily identified.

Found today with whitemushroom on our tour of local Trigs. It would seem that most previous finders missed the actual Trig and got the ventilation pipe instead!

Picked up on our way back down south - very cold 5C today- even Tasmania is warmer! Another CORS . I am picking up a few trigs on this trip.

Took my 20 year old for shopping trip to Orange today. Grabbed a few Trigs along the way. Smile
Had the wrong lens on my camera though, so took two photos at each point - one with the trig point on it's own, the other with the GPS in front of it but the trig out of focus.

Wasn't sure where to point the camera here at first, so drove back up the street a little till I could see the roof. These trigs are short mushroomy shaped things aren't they?

Zal wandered all around but in the end I think I was closer to the trig than he got Razz

I think this one is still awaiting a first real photo... but that may be tricky. I walked all around the government building and couldn't spot the unit which by satellite photo appears to be in the middle and perhaps hidden from the street. So I got a photo of the high-point chimney instead!

In Orange for a funeral yesterday so grabbed a few today on the way home.

With no finds to date on this one, fitzy_1965 and I headed past while in Orange for the day. Spotted the CORS about 38 metres from the fence....
