Description

CR Kennedy GPS (Mascot) TS12122

Official name of this Trig Station as per NSW Department of Lands is: CR Kennedy GPS (Mascot).

Serial number is: TS12122.

Last Inspected on: No Data.

Elevation is: 29 metres.

This has just been registered as a Trig by the Lands Dpt, it is a full spec CORS installation on top of the CR Kennedy building in Mascot. It will in due course be integrated into the CORS network. Not surprising as CR Kennedy is the distributor in Australia of Leica Survey Equipment and as such supplies the majority of CORS instruments.

CORS Trig, collecting geodetic data from GNSS (Continually Operating Reference Stations).

CORSnet-NSW is a precise positioning service that gives users access to fast and accurate positioning and guidance solutions across NSW. In recent years, precise positioning and guidance systems have emerged as useful tools across a variety of applications such as:

• Surveying

• Agriculture

• Construction

• Emergency services

• Mining

• Scientific research

• Asset management

CORSnet-NSW uses the latest Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) technology to provide an accurate spatial reference network for NSW and support the growing number of precise positioning and guidance applications throughout the State.

How does it work?

The service is delivered by a network of permanent GNSS receivers – known as Continuously Operating Reference Stations (CORS) – that are strategically located across NSW. The CORSnet-NSW network continuously observes and corrects satellite navigation signals in order to achieve international standard, high accuracy positioning data for NSW. The data is streamed to users via a wireless internet connection.

Logs

Looks like the building this trig was on has been demolished. Various photos form various cachers indicates a number of 'items' have been photographed as the trig. With the building gone, this one is being archived.

Found with a few hours to kill whilst awaiting a connecting flight.
I'm betting I'm the only person to reach GZ this close?
Suspect this trig might soon be archived, given demolition.

Shiny new CORS. Spotted on short walk while waiting for Zhaoy's plane to land. Gave me something to do so won't say no to a simple urban trig.

#GA561 - 16:45; I was back in Sydney with the geohoney for an event and afterwards we headed off on a short circuit to grab a few caches before the evening function got underway. Found a park not too far from GZ and got a couple of snaps. TFTC Geocaching Australia Very Happy

A nice drive by trig on my way down the coast for a spot of fishing. A bit tricky to get to with all the construction traffic here at the moment.

A quick photo as I was in a rush, better than nothing!

What a prick of a trig to get. Unlike rogerw3 I don't have friends in the building to get this one. From nearby all you can see is the awning (umbrella?) shades. from beyond the construction sight all the camera can get is a few pixels that are poking from on top of the building. Being 7am doesn't help as the sun is directly behind the "trig". It will do though.

In the area today for some caching after doing some promo work for Geocaching with the World Parks Congress, an event that is held once every 10 years with 5000 delegates attending (though we probably only had 40-50 at our event). Afterwards went out to hit some of the local area and this trig was nearby at the end of the run. Really need a better camera than the iPhone for this one though!

A bit tricky to get a photo but managed to get a shot of the dish above the terrace. Found at 11:55 am.

It was only at arrival at home that I realised I made the wrong pictures! Wel picture 1 has the terrace in it!

I was just alerted by a friend working for CR Kennedy that their GPS installation had just been registered as Trig, the first step for full CORS approval.
I really had no choice but to go and photograph this, unfortunately my friend was not there today so I could not gain access to the terrace where the Trig is!
