Description

A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

A quick trip around Burnie to complete a few more caches today And saw this TP close by. Couldn’t find a traditional trig point but GPS suggests it is the tower.

Whilst Muggle Hubby was finding a nearby cache I took this opportunity of having my photo taken of this trig point.
There were certainly plenty to choose from. There is no lack of hardware up here, as well as a wonderful view.
Thanks for bringing us up here via the Trig Point to see the scenery.

this was a bit of a bonus for me as I was not planning on going for a trig but got one all the same

I couldn't see a traditional trig, so I presumed it was the tower.

Neat drive up the hill, but alas no views due to the smoke haze in the area. Photo grabbed and all good.

Travelling around Australia and spending a few months in Tasmania.

Today we headed out to try and find the remaining caches around Burnie.

The weather was kind and the areas we visited really pretty. We are just loving our visit to Tassie. Cool

Out and about roaming the country side with Muggle Steve. It was getting on lunch time so I suggested we detour and stop at Round Hill for a cache or 2 and a spot of lunch.
I was busily get out lunch and trying to work out caching, and where our next stop was going to be, whilst Steve had his tuna can and a relaxing beer.
He took some photos of the view whilst I took photos of towers.

After going to my sister's place for lunch up this way, we made a little detour on the way home which was lovely as I haven't been to the lookout for a few years. I enjoyed the occasion of doing a cache on Boxing Day - as I've never done that before. So was very happy!
