Description

A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station and photograph the GZ.

Located on Sandy Beach Headland, enjoy the fantastic views...this is National Parks land so please stick to existing pathways to protect sensitive ecosystem on headland..no need to leave trails to find Trig (cache).

Official Code: TS10261
Official Name: Sandy Beach

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably.

This was a nice little walk through some bushes to come out on a grassy bluff with fantastic views all around.
The trig itself has seen better days with the name plate ripped off the the steel vanes taken away.

Now time to walk down to the beach for a quick swim.

We had finally been able to visit family nearby and took the time to pick up a few caches while here TFTC

I was in a bit of a hurry to get to Coffs and find some accommodation, but this walk just has to be made. Not too long or hard...just worthwhile.

A bit of a walk but worth the view. Sheme the metal plates heve gone missing on a lot of these Trig Points.

Heading out of Coffs area towards home I stopped at the Black Apple for a best-barista-in-the-world made coffee (yes I'm bias) and then made my way here for a walk out on the headland. Beautiful day for it. The waters were such beautiful colours. And I think I was closer to South Solitary Island today then I was yesterday. Will I ever get there? Snapped a photo with my coffee and South Solitary Lighthouse and then continued walking out. It's so beautiful here.

A nice little wander out to this one and it was very windy. Spotted a small snake or was it a legless lizard on the track. Do they have them up here?

1410, and another trig I hadn't previously visited. Loved the walk out, and the bonus friendly dog on the way back.
Getting slightly closer views of South Solitary Lighthouse (and trig). Some day! Rolling Eyes
Thanks

An easy trig to access from the walking trails. Lovely views of Emerald Beach and the coastline. The grass on the headland is like a mattress, on a warm day.............It wasn't today.

On the way up to the Stanthorpe mega, staying at my parents' place nearby for a few nights. A quick walk up the headland to find this after finding the nearby GC trad. The trig was easily spotted from a fair way off and can be seen from the beach as well. Technically the headland is Bare Bluff but the trig is missing it's plaque to tell us what it thought it was called.
