Description
The Telegraph Saddle Car Park is the starting point for many of the overnight walks that you can do whilst at Wilson's Prom.
You can drive up to the car park if you leave early enough in the day.
When the car park is full, usually peak periods, Parks Victoria will put the Road Closed sign out at the turn off point from the main road, you will then need to catch the bus that leaves approx every 30 minutes from the main carpark at Norman Beach.
You can also walk to the summit of Mt Oberon from the Telegraph Saddle Car Park. You can walk up the management road as it climbs approx 3.4 kms to the summit (at approx 560 metres) where you will get fantastic views. (There is also a Trig Point and an Earthcache at the Summit).
During the Summer break you will see many people taking the trek to the summit.
Not far from the survey marker at the Telegraph Saddle you will find a viewing platform that was donated by the "Friends of the Prom" and Parks staff.
I discovered this survey marker whilst waiting for the bus to arrive to take me back to Tidal River after we had climbed to the Summit of Mt Oberon.
The road to the Telegraph Saddle Car Park has only recently been re-opened after the floods of March 2011. You will be able to see where the road has been repaired and where landslides have occured during the flood.
Take a photo and let me know what brought you up here.
Have fun and enjoy a great spot and earn a smiley.
