Description

Baanya TS10893R

Official name of this Trig Station as per NSW Department of Lands is: Baanya.

Serial number is: TS10893R.

Last inspected on: July 26, 1995.

Elevation is: 739 meters.

Trig is a steel post with mast and vanes in center of reservoir.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

Sophoutloud and I spent a few days camping with friends at Hill End and then because of the very wet weather that came in on Sunday night they decided to bail and head home early so we had the day to fill by ourselves so what better way to do that but explore a new area and bag some fresh Trig points around Hill End and Bathurst. I have to say all the Trigs we found today were in Amazing condition, I am not sure wether they get repaired here more often or are just vandalised less out here. Either way it was great to see. Nice easy one to see from a long way off. good that you can drive up pretty close to the tank and still see the vanes

Got a bit distracted coming back from a camping trip in hill end. Lovely to have the time to collect a couple of finds around Bathurst. Usually it’s hard to get this close to a tank, but this was a easy park up and find

There was a BIG reason to go caching today
The dragons are having a May Madness party. A 2 times dragonZone points bonus will be on offer for all valid Geocaching Australia dragonZone caches found, except moveables, for the period Sat 11 – Sun 19 May.
Well I figured I’ll find as many trigs in 1 day as posable & that was 29 of them.
So, for me this was a BIG day of trigging.
No 29 of 29 – parked on the side of the road & took the shots - the lucky last 1 –- many thanks Clan GriffinClan Griffin

It was -3 degrees and I didn't even bother getting out of the car. Didn't even wind down the window for the shot. I should have just sent a drone!

#GA2424 - 14:25; Day five, the last day of the summer sojourn in the Blue Mountains with the geohoney. After an enjoyable few days based in Leura, the time had come to pack up and head for home. It was also time to do one last quick caching run around the area while the other half finished getting ready for the trip. After collecting some caches in Leura and doing a sweep through Wentworth Falls, we were now packed up and headed for home the back way through Bathurst, Orange and Canowindra with a view to adding a few caches as well as a few dragonZones to the tally. After reaching Bathurst we headed off to have a look at the Mount Panorama circuit, stopping for some trigs along the way as well as at the top of the mountain Dancing A few more stops as we passed through the town, then this last stop as we headed back for the highway. "Why do they call it Ovaltine? The mug is round. The jar is round. They should call it Roundtine. That's gold Jerry, GOLD!" - Kenny Ba(a)nya, 1997

The name of the trig immediately made me think of Seinfeld, so there you go - I'm addicted. Anyway, it was a short drive out of town to get this one. Nice little spot. TFTC GCA! Clan Cerberus
