CORS station, collecting geodetic data from GNSS (Continually Operating Reference Stations).

CORSnet-NSW is a precise positioning service that gives users access to fast and accurate positioning and guidance solutions across NSW. In recent years, precise positioning and guidance systems have emerged as useful tools across a variety of applications such as:

• Surveying

• Agriculture

• Construction

• Emergency services

• Mining

• Scientific research

• Asset management

CORSnet-NSW uses the latest Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) technology to provide an accurate spatial reference network for NSW and support the growing number of precisepositioning and guidance applications throughout the State.

How does it work?

The service is delivered by a network of permanent GNSS receivers – known as Continuously Operating Reference Stations (CORS) – that are strategically located across NSW. The CORSnet-NSW network continuously observes and corrects satellite navigation signals in order to achieve international standard, high accuracy positioning data for NSW. The data is streamed to users via a wireless internet connection.

Logs

14-Jan-24
We needed to go around the other side of the building into an area that was "No Public Access" to get a better photo of this CORS.

28-Jun-21
Wandered around to have a look at these - had an interesting conversation with a staff person about them, but couldn’t spot the main one from this angle.

28-Jun-21
A man that works in the building gave us some tips on where to locate the 3 trigs.

01-Jun-21
Out for a drive with Black Bunny and decided to grab this as we passed by.

Thanks for the trig.

Thanks for the trig

Got it.... as it turns out, this was the only of the three here we actually got, having a nice collection of dunny vent photos too! I must make sure to better prepare for trig hunts, especially multiples on building tops!

14-Nov-20
Spotted this Cors while on a caching day out in Bathurst with WaywardWoman.

20-Sep-20
Sophoutloud and I spent a few days camping with friends at Hill End and then because of the very wet weather that came in on Sunday night they decided to bail and head home early so we had the day to fill by ourselves so what better way to do that but explore a new area and bag some fresh Trig points around Hill End and Bathurst. I have to say all the Trigs we found today were in Amazing condition, I am not sure wether they get repaired here more often or are just vandalised less out here. Either way it was great to see. I am glad it was a Sunday when we arrived at this one, we ended up walking all the way around the building to find the 3 different trigs on the roof top, eventually we got ok photos that we were happy to log

20-Sep-20
Got a bit distracted on our way back from a camping trip. But so nice to have the time on a Sunday to find some trigs. So here we are I think a Sunday is a god time to walk around the council buildings.

Got the photo

#2416 - 13:00; Day five, the last day of the summer sojourn in the Blue Mountains with the geohoney. After an enjoyable few days based in Leura, the time had come to pack up and head for home. It was also time to do one last quick caching run around the area while the other half finished getting ready for the trip. After collecting some caches in Leura and doing a sweep through Wentworth Falls, we were now packed up and headed for home the back way through Bathurst, Orange and Canowindra with a view to adding a few caches as well as a few dragonZones to the tally. We had now reached Bathurst and were headed off to have a look at the Mount Panorama circuit when we stopped off at this NSW Government building with not one, not two, but three trigs/CORS on the roof. Who could resist a stop for a three in one! I think the Bathurst CORS is the disc shaped structure on the corner of the railing at the left of the photo. A Bathurst surrounds trig hunt day with master navigator rogerw3.

A good thing too that rogerw3 was there to guide a confuddled 'mushroom as the long day and a glaring sun gave odd delusions.

Having found a few CORS, and seeing some different types, I was sure that the 'aerial' I could see from the front was not only in the wrong position for the CORS, but nothing like others I had already found. A walk around to the back of the building, and sure enough there is the CORS. (Along with the other "Mulley" trigs)

27-Feb-16
Interesting this one, if you believe the six maps coordinates this may not be visible from the ground. People tend to photo one at the front of the building but there is a much more CORS looking antenna on the building to the SW - neither of which match the six maps plot. So unless some can get access to the roof to confirm which is which we won't know. Anyway here are photos of a couple of antennas to prove I at least visited.

Found this one on a quick drive around Bathurst before hitting the road again for my holiday.
I wish I had looked at the lat log's photo to know what exactly to point my camera at. Only got a vet general photo in an attempt to capture what I thought was all 3, sorry.
3/6 to make Bathurst region Griffin-Gold again.

21-Jul-15
I managed to get to the roof with the help from a curious council worker, Chris. Great to see all three trigs and know what I am taking a photo of. Some of these trigs on buildings can be tricky. Many thanks to the friendly council worker and great to bag another 3 trigs Smile

14-Jul-15
Found on our way to Bathurst circuit. There were cars racing around the track which was interesting to watch but the cold weather forced us to retreat to our car. Difficult to acertain which trig was which

On the way to Bathurst Circuit..
Found it here.
Thanks for the TP.

09-Apr-15
Hard to pinpoint

23-Nov-14
Again, it was too hot here today t spend too long deciding if I had correctly found the trig. I took some photos and got back to the air-conditioned car!

19-Oct-14
Found with Zal heading home from the zoo

19-Oct-14
This was much easier than the front trig! Interesting to see 3 side by side. Clearly visible on the back of the building with UFO dome in place.

19-Mar-14
These CORS were an interesting thing to chase while here in Bathurst area.

05-Mar-14
This one was about the easiest to see out of the three trigs here. Still hard to get a good shot though.

01-Jul-13
Mudgee trip 2013. With 3 trigs on one building they seem a bit greedy.

Thanks

13-Mar-13

Another CORS find in the Bathurst area, together with rogerw3.

We found a good place in a car park for our photos.

13-Mar-13
Another find with pjmpjm during our day's Trig and Geocache hunt in the Bathurst area.
This trig is placed on top of a concrete pillar previously known as "Mulley ECC1" and is on the roof of the lands Department building, previously the "Mapping Authority".
An easy find from the back of the building.
