Description

Durham Court TS10146

Official name of this Trig Station as per NSW Department of Lands is: Durham Court.

Serial number is: TS10146.

Last inspected on: November 1975.

Elevation is: 768 meters.

Trig is a concrete pedestal with mast and vanes.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

Sophoutloud and I spent a few days camping with friends at Hill End and then because of the very wet weather that came in on Sunday night they decided to bail and head home early so we had the day to fill by ourselves so what better way to do that but explore a new area and bag some fresh Trig points around Hill End and Bathurst. I have to say all the Trigs we found today were in Amazing condition, I am not sure wether they get repaired here more often or are just vandalised less out here. Either way it was great to see. after seeing Lee on the hill nearby while driving past we had a quick look and found there were 2 more close

A bit distracted on our way back from a camping trip in Hill end. Myself and Outdoornut22 decided we had enough time to collect a few trigs. This one we didn’t actually realize but you can see it from the main road. So picturesque out in the middle of the the field.

There was a BIG reason to go caching today
The dragons are having a May Madness party. A 2 times dragonZone points bonus will be on offer for all valid Geocaching Australia dragonZone caches found, except moveables, for the period Sat 11 – Sun 19 May.
Well I figured I’ll find as many trigs in 1 day as posable & that was 29 of them.
So, for me this was a BIG day of trigging.
No 17 of 29 – parked on the side of the road & took the shots –- many thanks Clan Griffin

#GA2414 - 12:40; Day five, the last day of the summer sojourn in the Blue Mountains with the geohoney. After an enjoyable few days based in Leura, the time had come to pack up and head for home. It was also time to do one last quick caching run around the area while the other half finished getting ready for the trip. After collecting some caches in Leura and doing a sweep through Wentworth Falls, we were now packed up and headed for home the back way through Bathurst, Orange and Canowindra with a view to adding a few caches as well as a few dragonZones to the tally. We were now on the outskirts of Bathurst and stopped off along the road in to visit a windmill for the Great Aussie Icon Hunt series and then continued along for this trig. Geocaching Australia (GCA) Cache Find Number 1325. Found during a run up to the Oberon, Bathurst and Orange regions with minniek.

A weekend run up through the Oberon, Bathurst and Orange regions to tackle a number of puzzle series, lots of trads, plus a number of trigs as well. Although there were a number of DNFs, in all the caches were nicely placed with good coords. Glorious weather certainly added to a very fun weekend. An early departure with a few quick stops along the way saw us soon at Oberon to start the campaign in ernest. Once that area was cleaned up we headed north to Bathurst. Driving around the back roads we came to this one. Once near the trig of course it was a quick stop for the required photos, admired the views, then it was off to the next one. Photo of the trig attached.

Another nice trig to add to the collection. Really enjoy finding these in all sorts of odd places, including the new CORS type which seem to be popping up in every country town plus the big cities.

A Bathurst surrounds trig hunt day with master navigator rogerw3.

The first, of many, already logged by rogerw3 but on the list for the 'mushroom - in a distant field, and a tad hard to photograph in the glare of a morning sun.

The land about this looked ploughed. As it was private I photographed this from a distance.

28-Feb-16
On my way to Bathurst, for the Geocaching NSW Invasion Event, I saw this trig from the Great Western Highway, checked out my GSAK list of nearby trigs, and then went down Eugenie Street, onto a dirt road that came to the property that this trig is on.
Looks like the whole field has been scarified, and there was looked like harvesting equipment outside of a rundown house.
Nobody answered, so I took some 'longer shots', till next time. Then on a bit late to the Event - found this @ 1205.

Got the chance to walk up to it today. The land has been cleared and it looks like it might become the a new suburb according to a local.

21-Jan-16
The land seems to be abandoned, but still. Without permission, there's no going up to it.

got it. again in the middle of a field on private property.

First stop in Bathurst on a trip home. A distance shot like most others.....you can see the trig so all was good. Interesting spot.

02-Apr-14
Two weeks ago I'd spotted this from the highway but didn't stop noting its general location near "Ceramic Ave" which I couldn't find on Google Maps later. Today I spotted it again and realised there was access via Eugenie St in Raglan but when I got within about 200m the grass was too long to see it all that well. Took a shot which I'll have to work on. Not sure this really qualifies but it's a log.

19-Mar-14
On a tour of town we stopped by a few other trigs.

13-Mar-13
pjmpjm and I found this one on our day's trip through the Bathurst area.
This one is visible from the Eugenie Street and is on private property it can still be seen and photographed. No doubt you could walk up to it when the field lies fallow but otherwise not recommended.

First trig of the day for rogerw3 and me, and an FTF, but we opted not to think about trekking through what was probably private property.

The trig disk is perfectly visible from the road, but didn't show up well on camera. My own little camera malfunctioned at this point, so I called upon rogerw3 to take a shot of my at the barbed wire fence, with the trig on the horizon behind me.
