Description
A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.
A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.
These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.
To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.
The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.
Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

Doing a country loop for trigs before I get to Swan Hill.

After a great and interesting 5 days in St Arnaud at the Mega it is now time to head for home. 650Klm in our journey today which consisted of actual distance for getting from A to B and detours for caches. Spending the night in West Wylong. Arrived close to water tower and took the required photo. TFTTP.

Another trig for Showdown 2019. It sure helps to be travelling when there's a competition on. An easy driveby on a quiet street this morning - unlike the engineering marker where bridge work was happening. Consequently didn't attempt that one.

Cold wet afternoon at the Barham hospital trig. One of the locals asked if we knew what the device was on top of the water tower across from the hospital. went for a drive across the river and showed what it was. Tnx

This was the first of a few on this side of the river after grabbing some supplies for our post-bushwalk barbie this evening. A nice quick one at 16:35. I would have loved to have got right to GZ but the pickie from across the street would have to do.
Thanks Geocaching Australia.

Out and about caching around Swan Hill and this was one of the caches we found. Easily spotted and the required photo taken. We had a nice meal at the pub near the bridge. TFTT
After a lengthy drive into NSW to the north-west of Echuca to log a few of the BRT series we headed back toward Vic via Barham with the intention of finding a trig point and a multicache to help with our Geosportz tally.
This TP sits on top of the water tower across the road from the Barham Hospital.

After camping across the river last night we decided this one was too close to not get. So over in to NSW we drove and ignoring all other caches grabbed the required photo. The trig marker on top of this one is quite clear. Mr beetle and the GPS are in the bottom RH corner. Thanks.
I have brought my 91 yo mum up to the Barham Stampede and had permission to cache for the afternoon. It didn't take me long to do the 3 that were left but boy is there a lot of caching potential here. This was my first and a very fine example it is indeed.
Amazing when you think all trigs are found and you come across another right over the road from the local hospital.
