A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to access.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on 'Log this Cache' and placing an 'Archived' log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty/terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

There was a break on the rain as we were driving past the turn-off to this cache, sowe decided to postpone out plans and go for a walk.
After a slightly slippery drive, we parked the car at the first gate and emerged into a cloud of mosquitos. We hoped they would leave us behind as we headed up the hill, but no such luck. Every time we atop moving, they swarmed around our heads again.

The view at the top was a bit hampered by the cloud cover, despite the cool clearing. With the ever present mozzies buzzing around we grabbed a photo and beat a hasty retreat back to the safety of our car.

Thanks for the Trig Listing

A beautiful drive in and a lovely walk to the Trig. I parked at S 029° 54.432' E 153° 07.775' then jumped the fence and wandered up Browns Knob Trail. A gentle slope all the way to the Trig with another gate to jump over half way up. The poor ol’ Trig is badly damaged but she would have been a fine sight in her glory days. Images taken. The drive and walk to here was a favourite of the day. Now it’s time to head to wooli. Thanks for the cache Smile

After a trip to Red Rock it was time to head bush and have some walkies to this trig. My partner in crime had been here before, but this was new to me. The road was a bit slippery on the way in, nothing the 4WD couldn’t handle. The walk up from the locked gate was awesome. Everything was so green, and the track was not overgrown at all. On reaching the top I was surprised to see a firepower, complete with solar panels and a verandah. The perfect weekend house if you ask me.

On walking around the fenced off tower, we came across the trig. The mast had fallen off during the fires of 2019, no sign of the vanes though. I wonder where they could be? Rolling EyesThinkWhistle

A fun little adventure to get to this one. Highly recommend it!

I'm surprised this is so unloved. It's a great walk past some amazing plants and rocks, and an okay view, although maybe last years fires made the view better in some parts.

The poor trig post and vanes didn't seem to like the heat either. I found them resting in peace on the ground beside the nameless pillar. I wonder what the arrow on the pillar top was pointing at? Certainly wasn't the Glenugie trig. I know there's another trig on the coast but not GCA... yet. Maybe that's what it was pointing at.

Great time though. Found an interesting flower near an interesting rock. I'll add pics of them too.

Came here after trek out to a cache in the area as Robbieracer had been here many years before and remembered spotting a Trig here Smile Bit of a steep hike up from parking waypoint but worth the trip!
