A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to access.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on 'Log this Cache' and placing an 'Archived' log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty/terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

a great day out on the water finding trigs with team737 and barefootjeff. The weather was perfect and it felt interesting walking through the green sludge. Thanks for the trig

I was out kayaking on Lake Macquarie today with Team737 and Mighty Minions, visiting a few water-access trigs. After launching from Chain Valley Bay, we headed straight across to the far shore to gain a bit of shelter from the wind before turning right and beaching? veging? next to the trig. An interesting feeling walking through the vegetable and mud soup to the shore. After the photos were taken, we headed back along a more direct line with the wind at least partly at our backs. The noise from the power station was pretty dominant the whole time, I'm glad I don't live anywhere near here. Many thanks for the listing at this interesting spot.

We had a great day out on the water in the area today, going for lakeside trigs via kayak, with Mighty Minions and barefootjeff in our flotilla. We launched from Chain Valley Bay, making the 1.4km paddle in 25 minutes or so. We grabbed photos of the 'Chain' trig on our way back.

I stayed at a cabin in Mannering Park especially to log this for the unloved on it, but was pipped at the post by Albida. It was quite difficult walking down through the long kikuyu grass to get to it, and the mozzies were rather friendly, but at least I have a photo to prove I was there.
Thanks for this Locationless Geocache Australia, now we start the long journey home from the GC OZGeomuster, having had a wonderful time in this beautiful area with Muggle Hubby.

Oz Geo Muster weekend Easter 2018. On my drive north to Morisset I took the time to stop and take the image for this cache. This was my first of the lakeside survey marks.

Thanks
Albida
