Description

Wangi Town TS10061

Official name of this Trig Station as per NSW Department of Lands is: Wangi Town.

Serial number is: TS10061.

Last Inspected on: March 31, 1976.

Elevation is: 1.048 metres.

Established by the Public Works Department for the Lake Macquarie Hydro Survey as PWD411.

A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to access.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on 'Log this Cache' and placing an 'Archived' log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty/terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

With a day off, what better way to spend it than to get out and find some unfound trigs. Thanks GA, love the trigs.

After all the rain that we have had around Sydney over the last few days it has been good to have a bit of nice weather today. Decided on a drive up the Central Coast & Lake Macquarie after some of the trigs along the way where there are a few clumps around. In the end I got to 25 trigs after that there was a long drive and I ended up getting home at about 8pm.
The twenty second one I looked for was Wangi Town in Lake Macquarie district
Thanks for the trig took the required photo

The time was ticking on and lunch was on our minds, so we stopped at the local IGA for supplies and walked over to the park to have our lunch. Another top spot with only a handful of other people in the area. Belly's full, no_Tomorrow and I headed over to the trig for a quick selfie and then on to the nearby trad.

On our way to the Lab cache at the Rathmines memorial we stopped for a couple of trigs. Everywhere we stopped was a beautiful view. I miss living at the lake. I remember going sailboard ing with my dad when I was 11 and riding in the small boat on weekends with my hand trailing in the water and the wind in my hair. Good times. Why do we have to grow up and worry so much about life and dangers and money? haha.

The event this weekend was my first Mega and I really enjoyed it. Found plenty of geocaches and met lots of geocachers. This cache was one of my finds. Ziggiau drove while I tried to navigate and research our next location at the same time. haha.
