A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to access.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on 'Log this Cache' and placing an 'Archived' log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty/terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

Nice part of the world

after an early finish from work, my daughter and I made our way down to find the rest of the trigs on the west side of the lake... sadly, our only find for the day...I will be back with my kayak for the others

We've been a bit cache quiet the past two months, so headed out today for a fairly new trail in the area, and nabbed a couple of trigs while we were here. We strolled down the nursing homes driveway like we owned it, figuring nobody would be bothered by a dad and son pair, and they weren't.

We actually drove right down to the water to access this one. There was no sign saying you couldn't but just in case Mr Beetle waited in the van while I walked past the playground and the nice rock waterfall to GZ.
What a great idea having a playground in an old people's home. I know when our grandkids visit their great grandmother they are bored to death.
With a ramp to this area the whole family can go outside and the kids have plenty to do.
Thanks.

Oz Geo Muster weekend Easter 2018. The third day of the Mega was the day to head home, so before the final event I stopped past here to get a picture of another of these lakeside survey markers.

Thanks

A quick walk through the nursing home

29-Mar-16
took a while to find a way in, looked a bit too obvious to walk through the retirement village (although it ended up that there was a set of steps which would have taken me close to GZ). So I drove round a few more streets to find access to the shore and walked back along the rocks.

11-Aug-13
Access was made via the nearby nursing home. The roads around here are steep and very narrow, but it is a pleasant outlook and stroll along the waterfront.
