Description

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the centre point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

Additional Information:

This State Trig is located on a flattish rock about 100m south-east of the main TCA gates. It consists of a stainless steel pin with a brass disc. As there isn't an official name for the site in the SurCom database, the local name of "Queens Domain" has been used as the trig point name.

Further information about this trig point can be found at Queens Domain ST1122

In the area yesterday caching so grabbed this one while we were there. Looks like the red paint surrounding the trig point has been renewed recently as it was a lot brighter than in previous photos I checked to see what I would be looking for.
Thanks.

I knew when I was getting close to the co-ordinates that I wouldn't be looking up to find this one, so with eyes firmly on the ground (also looking for snakes at this time of the year), I had the cache at my feet, I hope the photo is OK to log.

Thanks for the trig. Had to drop off geoTeenRef at the domain athletic track for soccer ref fitness test, so decided to see what I could find nearby. Ended up with 4 GCAs (2 trads, 1 trig & 1 history) plus 1 GC after a diversion to the Kmart. Very Happy

Park pretty close to here a couple of days a week so it's taken a little while to log this one. Quite a bit of long grass around, dodged a blue-tongue on the approach, before posing for the photo.

While doing other GC caches in this area this Trig point was spotted, a photo was taken as proof of visit.

A quick if confusing find as there in nothing at GZ apart from the marker. I was originally looking for the above ground parts but soon realized i was only looking for the marker. At that point it became easy as i just walked over to the rock in the grass and all was easily done. Thanks for this cache here today.

#GA940 - After a few of DNF's nearby moveables, I shifted my focus to a cache I was pretty confident was not likely to have moved. Much to my relief, the cache was exactly where I expected it would be and after taking the requisite snap, moved on in search of the seemingly elusive moveables in these parts. After finding an unpublished trig earlier today, I thought that finding this trig so close to home would finish off my work day. Which it did nicely.
Also spotted 2 of the RMs and an SPM just metres away from this one.

Been passed this one a number of times and called in today to grab it.

Quick find in the dark. A simple brass plug in the stone. Strange, this doesnt seem the highest point on the domain, where you would expect the trig.

Photos attached

Stopped to take a photo of this one on the way home this evening. The label at the site says "Primary GPS Station", but who am I to argue?
