Description

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

 Additonal Information

Wasn't sure if this was a survey marker or a trig point, well, I guess it was kind of both. The survey marker showing exactly where I needed to be.

Hello Geocaching Australia thank you for the cache.

Junior EeePees was in Launceston doing some refereeing at some soccer games over the weekend so EeePees asked me if I wanted to join him for the weekend and see if we could find some caches while J.E.P. was refereeing. Of course I jumped at the chance to spend the weekend with such a great mate and find caches in and around Launceston.

This was my 18th for the day and the 20th for the weekend.

We continued to search for other caches around Exeter and tis was the next on the list we walkwd across the wat grass field by now my shoes were soking wet as were mt sockes and feet but that wasn't going to stop me from finding another cache.
As we were walking to the trig EeePees said thats my sirter inlaw over there at the dog traning area., so after finding the trig we went and said hello and had a bit of a chat fefore continuing on our quest.

I ended up with 28 caches today and 55 caches found over the weekend and one DNF.

Now a horse paddock...complete with horse. No problems, he wasn't interested in what I was doing. The paddock looks temporary anyway.

Taken me 2 goes to find this one. Could not get a signal the first time so fumbled around in the dark. Tried again today in daylight and with a better GPS signal - I was no where near it last time!

#GA465 - 16:25 I had dropped a mate at the airport and decided on a caching run through Launceston and down the West Tamar on the way back to Bridport. Sadly the Bakery was closed when I came past, but a cache or two helped to cheer me up. Parked the geomobile and took the stroll across the paddock to GZ. Took a snap or two befofre heading on my way again. TFTC Geocaching Australia Very HappyClan Cerberus

I must say, these trig points on nice flat easy to get to ground are a lot better than the 2 hour slogs up mountains. Had to do a little weeding here to show the number.

A short stroll across the showground to find this trig. Grass damp but a beaut winter's day to be caching. One of the easier trigs to access. Thanks.

Passing by and the rain stopped. The sun came out and a stroll across the grass became more attractive. Cache logged and back to the car just as the rain started again. Very HappyClan Phoenix

A quick find whilst driving through the area. The Trig Point is next to a boundary fence and is well away from most activities held at the ground.
