With a possible FTF up for grabs over in Grenfell and a day off from work, I decided on going for the drive over while collecting a few other caches along the way. I started the day with collecting a Trig-Point behind the Grenfell quarry. Next one on the list was the possible FTF and then into the Weddin Mountains to find another TP and avenge a DNF. After my fantastic hike, I headed out and found the lone caches, I hadn’t found yet, between Grenfell and Young. TB visit on all found caches. I would like to thank all CO’s for creating the caches I found and for letting me enjoy the hunt to find them! TFTC’s

After finding the historic cache about 400m away, I made my way to this lookout and Trig-Point. A nice quick find here and more great views. TFTTP

What an amazing hike! I was invited by friends a month ago to come for a hike here today. About 50 invites went out. 4 of us turned up on this -5.5 degree morning. I convinced my daughter Belle to come. I was going to camp at the base of the trail till I saw how cold it was going to be. Ended up staying in a heated cabin in a caravan park on the edge of Forbes.
After de-icing the car windows, we made or way to the mountains. I didn't tell anyone there was a cache to find up there but there are all kind enough to help me search once there. Sadly with 4 of us searching for half an hour we came up with nada. But you know what...
I read the logs and saw it needed a new container and log book, audio brought both with me and some swag!
But up at the Trig - that was awesome! We clambered over rocks and sat on the edge, checked out the flora and debated over the absence of fauna. We took photos and film. We are fruit and red frogs - oh yeah - if you see a red frog near the Trig, that was meant to be mine. They threw it at me and I lost it. haha.
Great day had by all. No one else was fascinated by the Trig like I was though. On the way back downe tried finding the cache one more time before I placed a replacement. I couldn't let a classic get archived.

I spotted this one on a brochure about the Weddin Mountains. Couldn't find it listed so today I headed up the track from Holy Camp near Grenfell and found the 2002 cache called "Geocache" at the Peregrine Lookout (took me 23 minutes from the car. Headed up further another 15 minutes and found the venerable trig. The vanes have decayed but are still on top and the cairn is basically intact. You can read the name EUALDRIE imprinted on the vanes.
Well worth the walk for the fantastic views. Easier getting back down or you can continue across the mountains to Ben Hall's Camp.
