Description

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

We reached the co-ordinates and thought it looked too easy, but then the plastic cap threw us off. On the return walk we looked on the road beneath and saw the arrow and still sure we were in the right place. Now that I see the other photos it all makes sense.

Was planning on doing this one on the way to Bruny but would have missed the ferry so grabbed it on the way home.
No where to park so Mr Beetle dropped me off and drove down the road while I grabbed the required photo.
Thanks.

Thanks for the trig. Was gonna grab this on the way to Bruny this morning, but decided not to risk missing the ferry. More time later after the return voyage!
Turned out to be a quick find once up on the grass, but I decided not to remove the lid.

I looked for this once before but I got the idea it was in someone's garden so didn't bother but back today with a Goose and he confirmed it was in the open and what do you know I found it no problems this time.

Thanks for the Trig

Getting our motorhome parked safely was the only difficulty in finding this cache. Though we think it's the first survey marker we've found wearing a rain hat! We temporarily removed it to check out the internals. All good.

Pleasant spot, but I don't really think these were what the originators of the Trig Point cache type had in mind - I suspect it was the beacons on top of hills that were the intention.
Found in the sunshine before the change came through.
