A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to access.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on 'Log this Cache' and placing an 'Archived' log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty/terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

Out this way looking for caches by Gliss! when I went a bit further down the road. Couldn't see anything that looked like a trig but fortunately took a photo the same as everybody else.

Detoured slightly on our way back to Goulburn after a soccer match in Crookwell. Super chilly wind today. Very, very icy but fitzy_1965 and I braved the wind for a quick snap of the trig. Now to get back on the road and hope we don't run out of petrol along the way.

A short walk in the drizzle up to this cache. When I arrived a kangaroo was standing in front of the gate. At first I thought she was just cold, but as I approached I saw she had been in an accident; likely with a car. Horrible Sad! One of her eyes and a chunk of her face had been scrapped out. I walked right up to her and she didn't move. I wished I had a gun, or I could nurse her. But the gun would have been better, as even with nursing she likely will die from infection. I still feel awfully sad for this kangaroo Crying or Very sad.

#GA991 - 08:55; Out on a day run from Canberra to Blayney via Crookwell and return with Sol de lune, primarily to collect caches in the History of..... series and anything else along our route, including a few trigs. This trig popped up while I was planning our route for today and it seemed like it would be accessible about 5 kilometres or so down a back road. It turns out that the trig is on private property, but can be clearly seen as the rock cairn in the attached photographs, taken from the fence about 250 metres from GZ. Happy to grab a *FTF* on this neglected trig and hope a few more will now make the trek in to visit. TFTT Geocaching Australia Very HappyClan Cerberus
