A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to access.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on 'Log this Cache' and placing an 'Archived' log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty/terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

Another trig picked up on a road trip to NSW with Joolay. We couldn't get closer to this trig but managed to get a photo of the cairn from the roadside. TFTT

We just had to stop and check out this trig on our way back south after visiting our grandchildren in Cairns. Some of the logs had us intrigued and the trig certainly lived up to the logs. TFTT Geocaching Australia SmileDancingClan CerberusClan Cerberus

With a possible FTF up for grabs over in Grenfell and a day off from work, I decided on going for the drive over while collecting a few other caches along the way. Big Grin I started the day with collecting a Trig-Point behind the Grenfell quarry. Next one on the list was the possible FTF and then into the Weddin Mountains to find another TP and avenge a DNF. After my fantastic hike, I headed out and found the lone caches, I hadn’t found yet, between Grenfell and Young. TB visit on all found caches. I would like to thank all CO’s for creating the caches I found and for letting me enjoy the hunt to find them! Big Grin TFTC’s

Found 2:19pm with LuckyL10n. I was out on a caching run with LuckyL10n and his partner and friend. We were doing a large loop to grab GC and GCA caches, CORs and trigs. This trig was quite visible but across what looked like private property. The photo capture was a little further away than I would've liked as the iPhone camera isn't that great. nice countryside, pity the weather isn't too good today.

#GA693 - 14:20; I had sown the seed yesterday with the geohoney that we should go for a Sunday drive through the local countryside and perhaps collect a cache or two along the way. An itinerary was then hastily arranged and the geohoney's friend and MrDamage confirmed for the tour. We had picked up a few caches by the time we reached Young, including the trig near Boorowa, which saw MrD and I get a little damp. After a couple of easy drive bys in Young, we headed north for this one. Like earlier visitors, we took a long shot from the road and then collected the GC trad in the parking area Dancing TFTC Geocaching Australia Very HappyClan Cerberus

Stopped for a selfie while cruising around the area. Nice and green here at the moment, so hopefully the farmers are happy.

Geocaching Australia (GCA) Cache Find Number 992 - 9565 overall cache finds.

Found during a caching run with Sol de Lune up through the Grenfell region. While we mainly looked for GC caches, when an easy GCA cache comes along we go for that as well. Trigs are particularly nice to track down and find. I was very happy when they became part of the GCA cache family. Its especially satisfying if you have made a big climb up for one ! I have also now joined dragonZone in Clan Cerberus, so there are more reasons to find those GCA caches. Its interesting to find the many different types of trigs. From the traditional metal legs and vanes, to the concrete base with vanes, to the ones on top of water tanks (especialy the red ones !), as well the new CORS type. When you look on a GCA map and see all those hundreds and hundreds of blue 'Z's it shows just how many there are out there. Shame so many are on private property and cannot be accessed at all. So as far as I'm concerned every trig that can be found and photographed is a real bonus !

This one was a nice quick 'find' and a photo taken and posted.

Spotted this one from the car as I was driving from Grenfell to Young. It looks like a stone cairn cemented together with the usual mast and vanes. It's about 200m into a paddock but you can get a shot from the roadside. A good lens would get a better shot. There's a GC cache just across the road.
