A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.
Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.
These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.
To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig poin. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.
The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

You could see this trig from a mile away! Although it felt like we took the most complicated way to get here. We eventually got here, I enjoyed seeing so much of cowera, who knew there was so much going on here!

TFTC GCA.
In the continuing quest to a streak of 90 days with a GCA Cache find (soon to extend to be a quest for 180 day streak - I'm not even thinking about the 365 challenge yet ! Lol) I grabbed this trig today as I passed through Cowra again. My car broke down here last weekend so - damn - I had to venture up here again to collect it this weekend - just another excuse to grab some more caches ! And just for a change - a trig on a water tank !
TNLN - TFTC !!
Cheers....
Found a spot near some horse paddocks for our photo and it was quickly taken under their watchful eyes. Thanks.
A short drive on the side road and easily spotted in the distance ... decided to venture closer but the side track was blocked by a grader. Back down to a side street ... For what will likely be a poor photo.
Albida
Thanks for the trig....
