Description

Find and Photograph the Trig Point.

Official name of this Trig Station as per NSW Department of Lands is:   ?
Serial number is: ?
Last Inspected on:  ?
Elevation is: 1 metres.

A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon.
It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape.
Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to access.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on 'Log this Cache' and placing an 'Archived' log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty/terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

a bit of a walk but it was worth it when you got there!

17-Aug-22
This was a nice bonus find on a birdwatching walk and caching walk. The eponymous structures caught our eyes when we were last walking on the other side of the channel, so we were pleasantly surprised to find that they weren't the trig point themselves.

11-Apr-22
It was the first day of school holidays, and what seemed like one of the first sunny days for an age, so we jotted down a list and headed down the western side of the lakes. We had a great day, managing another 4 trigs, with a dozen or so GC caches as we went.
We found the cache on the way, pushed on along a dry track (considering the deluges of late) to the trig. You might need a really low tide or really wet pants to sit on the trig, but its there. I agree - T2.... (edited cache description)

A quick find while visiting the area

16-Oct-21
Came near here to try to grab FTF on a nearby cache but “ “ missed it by that much “. So continued onto this trig. I had rushed out of the house , so was still in my Ugg’s . A beautiful spot , you can see the entrance bridge from here

Today's novo lockdown recreation consisted of a paddle around Chittaway to find a geocache. Whilst exploring the area, we spotted this trig from afar! I reckon this is the first trig we have claimed from the water. The trigs around Tuggerah Lake are just concrete bollards and this one has not been treated well by the elements (or the fauna) but it was such a great surprise to find it! TFTC.

I came this way to find a geocaching.com which I think is 100% gone, but walked the extra bit up to the end of the point and it's certainly worth it. Lovely views across the water. I took a pic of this trig point just in case in was registered on GCA Cool but I must admit I was thinking "Doh!" when I saw the name of the trig was "Radio Towers" as I thought I'd got photoes of the wrong thing. But all is good. High tide maybe so I didn't try to jump on the thing itself. TFTC and cheers all! Very HappyClan Cerberus

Definitely not a terrain 4. A two would be okay. Pretty obvious how the trig got its name.

Out and about in the area and enjoyed the walk to GZ. TFTT

We came for a walk out here to find a GC puzzle but continued on to find the trig out the end. Beautiful day for it.

great trig in the water

29-Mar-18
A scenic walk to the trig. I'm not sure why this is called "Radio Towers". TFTC.

04-Jan-18
Decided to investigate what was out this way, not sure if I could actually reach this one by land. But it was a very easy walk here and an easy capture (but I wasn’t up for wading today).

19-Jul-14
0040, an early start to the days activities. Didn't find 'the track' until on the way out. If you head 'south' at the cyclone fencing you will come to a 'two-storey' structure (probably the transformers for the radio towers), and there is a spinning gate allowing access to the southern side of the spit, but there you will find a track of sorts.
Waded on out to the 'trig' to get the photos, then dried off as best as possible.

12-Jul-14
We decided to find a few of the trigs not done in the area. We enjoyed the walk to this one.
