Description

Find and Photograph the Trig Point.

Official name of this Trig Station as per NSW Department of Lands is:   ?
Serial number is: ?
Last Inspected on:  ?
Elevation is: 2 metres.

A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon.
It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape.
Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to access.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on 'Log this Cache' and placing an 'Archived' log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty/terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

We decided to walk to this trig on a spur of the moment after school outing. I guess the tide was correct, either way we made it without getting our feet too wet, just the occasional spray from a larger than average wave.
It was a pretty easy walk, although it turns out hiking boots that are good for mud are not So good at slippery rocks. We all stayed on our feet, but it was a close call.

Pretty awesome rock shelf around the point. We contemplated heading up to the lookout but the cliffs looked a bit gnarly for the kids.

Looking for things to do as the lock-down drags on past 100 days, Mighty Minions suggested I try some GCA trigpoints. After seeing what was available near home, I took advantage of the low tide to do a walk around the headland from Umina Beach to Pearl Beach. No problems locating the trig point as it's one I've used as a waypoint for a couple of my caches. Many thanks for the listing.

We were camping across the creek at the NRMA park, and ducked over to the rocks for the nearby EarthCache. Only after we set off did we notice the trig on our way! Bonus..... we grabbed it on our way back, as someone was using it for a seat on our way in....

Trigs come in all shapes and sizes. This one is interesting in having no provision for a mast and vanes, or for an instrument, much like the PMs that replaced trigs in the burbs. It's not listed by the Lands Dept but it has the requisite symbol and it's identical to the one at Green point, which is listed. A poor relative, it seems. Still, a top spot to visit on a sunny day.

Found 3:40pm on an afternoon out exploring with the girlfriend and to look at some of the views around the coast. Having a great time so far.

Luckily I read the previous log from Graham Cookie and realised that I was on the wrong level. I went on to Pearl beach to get the one on Green Point, then came back to find a convenient car space in the car park. Just a 300m walk along the rocks and there it was.

I had been past here a few times in my years of geocaching, so came back and parked at 'the top', as the bottom car park was OVERFLOWING!
A careful walk down the nose of the point and I was right there!
I found a cylindrical concrete post, with a corroded bronze triangle survey marker from the Public Work Department, with 463 stamped into it. While the headland is partly protected from heavy seas, it is still wise to keep an eye out for 'rogue waves'.
Found at 1315, New Years Day, Sunday, 1 January, 2017.

Spotted this coastal trig on the way to the nearby earthcache. Took a few photos in case it was listed on GCA and it was Smile TFTTP

Found on our trip to Ettalong Beach for the weekend. While getting the earthcache nearby, we quickly came here to take a photo (from a distance) of the trig. Very lovely views from here. TFTC GCA! Clan Cerberus
