Description

A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ and photograph it.

Offical Code: TS10474R

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon.
It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape.
Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to access.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on 'Log this Cache' and placing an 'Archived' log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty/terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably.

parked around the corner and made my way up to the reservoir

It was pretty wet today (55mm so far to 4pm), so to break up the day, we headed out into it for a pair of trigs, hunting around for physical hides in this becomes 'unfun' quickly! We'll think about the pile of trig rocks behind this one in drier condition.....

Had breakfast at the lovely horseshoe shaped beach below this one and was surprised to see an elderly muggle swimming here.
Then it was up quite a steep road to find a way to access this one.
Thanks.

Staying a One Mile Beach at Port Stephens we got a great view of the trig on the watertank from the beach. Lots of salt spray but lovely breeze. TFTT

Found on Australia Day while at Port Stephens. After parking down the bottom of the hill, it was a short walk up the path for a quick photo at GZ. Lovely views from up on this hill. TFTC GCA! Clan Cerberus

0630 Found the Boat Harbour Reservoir TS atop of course the water reservoir. Already I had explained to a resident of the Boat Harbour area what I was up to when seen photographing a SSM that I happen-chanced on in my journey. I would hope that all the graffiti would at least make it more waterproof Doh
Then went on to find the remnants of the Morna TP; a GREAT day

The designated point - hopefully a set of vanes, is in the centre of the reservoir, per screen shot
