Loving our road trip out west with Outdoornut, trying not to let the wet weather discourage us from getting outside. We thought we would head out and do some caching and trigging.

08-Jul-24
We found this one on a rainy day as we passed through Griffith trying to fill in the time until the rain stopped we decided to find some caches and trigs around town.
Took us a minute of skulking around the council offices to spot this one but got it in the end.

Second of the Griffith bunch for me today before continuing the journey north. It took a lap of the complex before I finally spotted the CORS at 09:20. Embarassed

Thanks Geocaching Australia.

Arriving in Griffith we set up the van and then headed into town for a couple of cache finds. This is the first of a few.
A quick photo and we were on our way again.

Looking at six maps there's a lot of unlisted trigs in the West Riverina area. I guess I'll be doing a bit of trig hunting whilst in the here this 3 months. Woo-hoo! I think there are probably mostly water tower ones around as there aren't as many mountains as trigs. Haha.

Let's start with the most boring one that is already listed - a council cors. My first Griffith cache on my first day here.

Have you seen the Sighter App? There's a few more interesting things to find through that... or at least will be.

A day out in Griffith and some caches.

A long weekend brings with it a weekend of camping and caching. fitzy_1965 and I decided to do a loop from Goulburn out to Naranderra, Griffith, Condoblin and back home so I could pick up the last few counties out that way.

Today was heading from Naranderra to Griffith via Leeton. Nice quick park and snap.

Found this trig (CORS) without too much trouble. Thanks Geocaching Australia.

Stopped for a break and a coffee in the town that everyone (with age) has heard of because of Donald McKay. With all the Italian influence they certainly know how to make a coffee. It wasn't till we looked where the CORS was that we noticed the circular street planning. Took a pic of the CORS before driving to Lake Cargelligo for the night.

With a well-deserved day off work and nothing on until tonight, I took the opportunity to do some caching around Griffith and attempt some FTF’s that had popped up over the weekend. After checking the caches at the start of the day, there were still no finds on two of the three caches. Out of the 13 caches I wanted to find today and I turned 12 of them into a Smile. I made 6 GC (includes 2 FTF’s) and 6 GCA finds today with 1 DNF. I also had 3 really enjoyable hikes though the bush with amazing views. Throughout my adventures today, I also stopped and had a look around ‘Hermit’s Cave’ which is a very interesting area. TB visit on all found caches. I would like to thank all CO’s of the caches I found today and for allowing them to bring joy to me and others. Big Grin TFTC’s and TFTTP’s Big Grin

We hadn’t realised until we arrived in Griffith that it was designed on similar lines (or should I say circles?), as Canberra.
We found this CORS easily and Muggle Hubby took this photo before we explored this city.
Thanks for another reason to stop

#GA1404 - 13:10; #GA1402 - 13:00; Day 1 of the Alice Mega Road Trip with Sol de lune. After heading off early from Canberra, we had now reached Griffith via Leeton and Yenda. After three quick finds along the high road at the back of town, we were now in the CBD to grab this CORS. After a drive around the building, Sdl spotted it and we soon had our snaps in the bag. With all these 1 way circular streets the poor old GPS nearly had a meltdown getting to this 1. Will claim a ftf here. Thanks.
