Today Pa and I were travelling south after the Tumut Invasion by some ACT cachers, and stopped in Tumbarumba for morning tea. I grabbed the opportunity to walk around a couple of blocks to snap two caches this being one of them . Thanks GCA .

#GA2590 - 13:00; I was headed down to Melbourne to visit the geoaunt in hospital and catch up with the geostudent while I was there. Being in no hurry and seeking to avoid some of the boredom of the highway, I decided that today would be a good opportunity to take a detour and collect a couple of dragonZones which had been in need of a visit and collect a few caches along the way. After collecting a few caches along the highway as a warm up, along with a short detour to the old mine ruins in Adelong, then into Tumut, I had now reached Tumbarumba and the second of the key caches on the 'to do' list for the day. After a distinct lack of success in locating one of the local GC caches, I decided to go for a walk and have a look around the town as I headed off on foot for this cache. An interesting spot and a very well maintained war memorial over the road. Made it to GZ and grabbed a couple of snaps, then off for a GC cache across the street at the old horse trough. Australia Day weekend 2108. Drive from Jindabyne to Wagga, from Event to Event. This town was a bit more significant than I realised. I am not sure if I have visited before, so nice to get there today.

Thanks

Geocaching Australia (GCA) Cache Find Number 1199 - 12245 overall cache finds.

Found while on a caching run throughout the Tumut region with Sol de Lune - a really fun trip with lots of cache finds. While I mainly looked for GC caches, when an easy GCA cache comes along we go for that as well. Trigs are particularly nice to track down and find. I was very happy when they became part of the GCA cache family. Its especially satisfying if you have made a big climb up for one ! I have also now joined dragonZone in Clan Cerberus, so there are more reasons to find those GCA caches. Its interesting to find the many different types of trigs. From the traditional metal legs and vanes, to the concrete base with vanes, to the ones on top of water tanks (especially the red ones !), as well the new CORS type. When you look on a GCA map and see all those hundreds and hundreds of blue 'Z's it shows just how many there are out there. Shame so many are on private property and cannot be accessed at all. So as far as I'm concerned every trig that can be found and photographed is a real bonus !

The trig was quickly 'found'. Piccie taken and posted. Another CORS grabbed !

Thanks Geocaching Australia !

Driving around Tumbarumba in the rain and spotted the tell tail dome of the CORS. Unable to convince Geowife to stand in the rain for a picture with GPS in hand.

Decided to come the scenic way to Victoria as we weren't in a rush, and noticed a CORS nearby. Only about 100 metres from the accomodation so strolled over for a photo. Nice and easy to see this one and there is even free Wifi being beamed from the same spot.

Now to work out if there is access to the nearby trig up the top of the hill, satellite maps aren't showing tracks but there are towers there so there must be some way but whether it is open to the public who knows. Might be a mission for the morning.

Photos of iPhone and out of focus CORS, and in focus CORS separate. Cheers and good to get a *FTF* on a trig.
