Serial number is: TS 5871.

A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to access.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on 'Log this Cache' and placing an 'Archived' log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty/terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

A beautiful day to find trigs. Parked off Fern St for this.

A specific trig tour of the Southern Highlands and Kiama area today. One of many. I got the shot with a 300mm telephoto lens from the top of Coal St.

This trig is in the tree line on private property. Surveyors working where I parked indicated it would be near the middle of my photo

I pointed the camera towards GZ and took a photograph. TFTC.

#GA2175 - 11:35; After a pleasant night in Gerringong and an excellent breakfast at the Gerringong Deli & Cafe on Fern Street, the geohoney and I were taking a round about way home doing a bit of retail and caching along the way. Spotted this one on the way over to Gerroa, but couldn't find any available access. In the end, relented and parked by the main road for a long shot from there as seems to be the norm for this one. Heading south we spotted this trig marker between the row of trees up on the hill. There was no where to park in that direction though so we turned around. The parking spot coming back was poor so I just jumped out and took a photo while Mr Beetle stayed in the van in case he had to move quickly. Thus there is no person or no GPS in this shot. Use your imagination and you'll see a tiny little dot up there amongst the row of trees. That is the trig!
Thanks.

A day out on a trig seek with rogerw3

On turning from looking for the archived Gerringong, there upon a distant hill bookended with a row of pines sat Buena Vista ... why go further, for this was a perfect pic!

Looks like I can 'claim' to be the "First to Find" of this Buena Vista trig Wink
What I thought would be a likely spot to stop and ask for permission to access the trig turned out to be the neighbour (only).
A name of a local was given. Caution with electric fences required. And the grass is rather long - been a while since cattle have been agisted.
A beautiful concrete pedestal, plastic post, black semi-circular vanes (with typical holes punched out), and an appropriate nameplate - BARGAIN
Took a few photos, then headed back to give my thanks.

Definitely a long shot needed for this one or something better than an iPhone, but I did my best from two vantage points.
This trig certainly sits on some prime real estate here!

Initially took my evidence from the same spot as the previous finder, but as I was picking up my daughter somewhere else in Geringong I suddenly spotted a place only 400 meters away to get another shot!

I have often gazed at this one in the distance but never added it, being close to a K away & not accessible. However with my super zoom in hand & DragonZone control possible, I ventured out into the tourist throng. Photographs taken from Gerringong cemetery with trig 829 metres away.
