Description

Narrow Neck Old TS?

Official name of this Trig Station as per NSW Department of Lands is: Narrow Neck Old.

Serial number is: TS not allocated.

Last inspected on: June 10, 1975.

Elevation is: 1072 meters.

This Trigpoint is just over 6km from the car park so return trip would be over 12km. The original cairn was unpiled on June 10, 1975 and has been replaced by TS5557. No trace of the original mast and vanes found

The lookout at the end of Narrow Neck is a 20km round trip from the gate but worth it for the views.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

I realised today when i was looking for a trig to go and walk to that I had not logged these Narrow Neck Trigs from when I was out there back in 2021. I was out this way walking with my Outdoor Leadership Trainees, we were towards the end of a 3 day bushwalking’s off track through Cedar Creek that had been good fun and a little bit of an epic in some gnarly terrain and fire regrowth however that was behind us and we were having a great day walking up through Tarros Ladder and making away along the tops of Narrow Neck on a beautiful day with fantastic views. We stopped by the fire tower and the trigs for some lunch which gave me the chance to sneak over and take a few photos of the three trigs that reside here. Great spot thanks

MrT did a bike ride out along Narrowneck and decided to do some trigs and caches along the way. The old trig spot can be seen to the side of the new trig. MrT will take a better photo next time he heads there for a ride. TFTT

A perfect blue sky windless winter's day for a walk out along the Narrowneck Fire Trail with rogerw3.

Narrow Neck Old trig was found in pristine fresh-painted condition with the prominent pin giving off a good shine in the sunlight, the original large stones scattered around - near the rear fence of the bonus Narrowneck Firetower. Narrow Neck trig also can be found at the same location - continuing onward it is a steep downhill for a grand view, and makes for a long day with the return.

Out on Narrow Neck for a long walk, the original stainless steel pin was quite easy to find, very close to the new Trig.
