Description

Leeton TS7367R

A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

Day three of our LGA chase out through Bega, Cooma, Tumut, Wagga and Dubbo. The weather deteriorated in Wagga, so we decided the warm car was a nice place to be, so we extended the LGA hunt out as far as Griffith, bagging another five councils, and still making out dinner reservation! We grabbed several trigs as we went too. The countryside out here is really interesting, it was worth the drive....

In Leeton for a couple of weeks for work. Couple of photos collected on a typically clear and sunny day here. This cache is on one of many water towers around town.

Well what do you know, another town designed by Mr Burley Griffin. These towers though! Woah! Very cool. Not like the weather. Even though I'd downed 2L of water before midday something wasn't quite right with my body and this heat today so I wasn't able to enjoy the town as hoped. I happened to pass this on my way back home only a short time after arriving so snapped a photo with the Captain. I'll be back to check out the art and wetlands another day, and maybe find a few caches at the same time.

A long weekend brings with it a weekend of camping and caching. fitzy_1965 and I decided to do a loop from Goulburn out to Naranderra, Griffith, Condoblin and back home so I could pick up the last few counties out that way.

Today was heading from Naranderra to Griffith via Leeton. Fascinating little park and gorgeous water tanks. Eventually found a spot suitable enough to snap a photo.

Second trig this morning after camping at the nearby Showgrounds. It is cold wet and quite miserable. I am travelling around NSW grabbing caches in as many Shires/counties for GC Challenge and looking out for GCA at the same time. TFTT Geocaching Australia. Clan CerberusClan CerberusClan Cerberus

Found on a trip out to Leeton and surrounds for some GC's.
Another nicely located trig.
All good here, still how I remember it from 10 years ago.
Thanks GCA,

I woke up this morning with the smell of smoke from the bush fires. When I went for a look outside, it a dark orange colour and I could barely see the end of the road. With this knowledge, I quickly got my Geo-bag and hopped in the car and drove off in the direction to Leeton. I chose to find the caches around Leeton and Yanco today as there were two FTF’s up for grabs. Also this will also be my first time in Leeton since the 2013 Riverina Swimming Carnival, so I’ll get to see some of the changes around the area. I saw the caches pop up about a week ago and was very surprised that they were still unfound. When I arrived in Leeton, it was a very light layer of smoke and it stayed that way until the last cache I found in Yanco then it started, slowly getting thick but I still had 4 caches planned… so I said ‘screw it, I’ll go get them’! Big Grin After finding these caches I drove home in the now quite thick smoke arriving home which was still the same as when I left. I enjoyed my day out, the places I visited and all the caches I found. I would like to thank all the CO’s of the caches I found, for allowing them to bring enjoyment to me and the rest of the caching community. Big Grin TFTC’s Big Grin

This morning we made an early morning visit to Leeton and whilst there, we located this trig point. Two photos have been added to the Gallery: the first shows Mrs y'stassie with the trig marker on the reservoir in the background; the second is a closer view of the trig point marker. Thanks for the cache.

Looking for a place to have lunch & we had it in the little park here – on our 1st worm day out of winter the picnic table was in the shade so that made it pleasing – taken the shots from there - thanks Clan Griffin

#GA1398 - 11:05; First stop on Day 1 of the Alice Mega Road Trip with Sol de lune. Spotted the trig on the approach and soon grabbed our snaps before making an unsuccessful attempt at the GC trad nearby. A good start to the GCA side of our 'Mega' mission. This one turned out to be a bit of fun. I followed the GPSr and ended up looking at a vacant block in Leeton. After a minute or two of scratching the melon, I went for a short drive and found what I believe to be the actual Trig Station atop of a reservoir as the hint suggests. So I grabbed a pic and hopefully can claim the *FTF*.
I believe S 34 33.000 E 146 24.434 is a lot closer to the mark.
I will try and contact GA regards this.
