Description
Wyong Old TS?
Official name of this Trig Station as per NSW Department of Lands is: Wyong Old.
Serial number is: TS not allocated.
Last inspected on: December 18, 1980.
Elevation is: 87 meters.
This Trigpoint is a drill hole in the native rock just West of the current concrete pedestal trig, be aware there are 2 drill holes close to each other, the southern one is the old Trig, the one at the North is only a locating mark.
A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.
Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.
These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.
To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

Back at the car the rain had eased off and we spotted the nice set of wooden stairs leading to the top. That would have been easier!

Once all three were in the bag, it was back to the car and off our on travels again.
I am new to this trigging caper so I had never seen one like that before.
I cleaned only the hole itself, not disturbing the moss around it
The first photo shows the rock the trig is on next to the GPSr and the other the actual drill hole.
