Description
Hat Hill Old TS?
Official name of this Trig Station as per NSW Department of Lands is: Hat Hill Old.
Serial number is: TS number not allocated.
Last Inspected on: April 24, 1981.
Elevation is: 1035 metres.
This one is the original stainless steel plug in the native rock that marks the spot of the original cairn before it was depiled and the concrete pedestal erected in its place.
A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.
Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.
These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.
To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

Logs
We hadn't planned this one today, but were stopped by a road closure on the way to the EarthCache we were heading to, so had plenty of time to climb up for the trigs. We did have some plans to get to trig #200 tomorrow, but as it turned out this spot was a beauty, and well deserving of the honour.
I do enjoy the hunt for these sort of trigs, in the end my father-in-law got it, he was nearly standing on it.
On towards #300!
This is a place I had been to decades before, but realised that there was a trig plug here as well.
The photos taken in the 1980's were thrown out, so I'm back to re-photograph it.

Great find with rogerw3, who 'discovered' this original trig pin through his ongoing research.
We chose a beautiful day for the short climb and were rewarded with magnificent 360 degree views. Although we'd visited this place a number of times previously, we were somehow unprepared for the excellence of the views.
This is one trig that's worth a visit . . . and of course their are two trigs here to log . . . the old as well as the obvious new one (which is clearly visible from Hat Hill Road).
Thanks again to rogerw3 for this new GCA trig!
'Five Thumbs Up' for the amazing views!
Found today with pjmpjm. Amazing panoramic vista from the top of the hill.
