Description

On top of the water reservoir

A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station and photograph the GZ.

A trig station typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

Easy find on the way from Grafton to Casino. The trig appears to be in pretty good condition.

Not sure the rhyme or reason behind some trigs having holes and some being solid though.

I was travelling back from visiting my patents today via Grafton to drop my sister at Casino. I got a phone call from one of my kiddos and, being mothers day, I had to stop to take the call.

I got out to stretch the legs and chat and was surprised to see a cool piece of street art right in front of me. I took a photo of the artwork to share with my Jesse-boy. As I was taking the photo I realised, hang on... water tower... trig... I don't think I've got this one before.

I had pulled over to give my son full attention. That was now lost. Haha. I quickly looked it up and took the required photo whilst on loudspeaker. He had no idea I was doing this. Haha. That done I could give him my full attention again. It wasn't long before my sister reminded me she wanted to set up camp before dark, so I had to say good bye to my son and the trig.

But seriously, love this artpiece. Would be better without the word "home" all over it though.

On the road from Coffs to Byron today, we've taken the 'back-road' through Grafton/Casino and Lismore, mainly to grab a bag of trigs, and a few caches thrown in too....

We were on a road trip to Armidale today, and this was the first port of call. We found it on a nice foggy Grafton morning, at around 6am. It was going to be a scorcher today, so we were enjoying the mild climate while we could. Nice easy trig to find.

#GA2699 - 14:55; Day four of the 2018 Oz GeoMuster mission with Sol de lune. After leaving the Mega yesterday afternoon and caching our way to Taree where we spent the night at a local caravan park, the plan for today was to cache our way north past Port Macquarie, then through Kempsey, Macksville, Urunga, Coffs Harbour, Grafton, Casino, Lismore and into Ballina in preparation for some caching around Byron and the Tweed before setting sail south again for home. Although not part of the original itinerary, I was able to collect a few more caches in Taree, which Sdl had picked up on previous visits. After a few stops along the way we took another detour through Grafton and along the Gwydir Highway for yet another testline. After that it was back into town for a couple more. Grabbed a snap of this trig as we headed out of town towards Casino. TFTT Geocaching Australia Very HappyClan Cerberus

Day 4 of a trek along the NSW coast to Tweed Heads after attending the Morisset event with LuckyL10n. Another day with lots of trigs grabbed...along with the odd traditional or two.

No problem with the find here and the required photo was soon snapped.

Thanks for another trig.....

Friends took me to this one when I mentioned Trigs - they have seen many over their travels. Photo taken with my camera.

First for the day and first for a few days as we have been visiting relatives and not caching.
They don't come much easier than this one. Thanks.

Driving north from Grafton I spotted this on the water tower so stopped for a pic. Quite surprised it wasn't already listed. Grabbed the coords from the car but used the ones from google satellite to get the location of the trig. An easy drive by on the Summerland Way, very surprised nobody has listed it before. But it's definitely a trig on a water tower. So an *FTF* on this one. Cheers
