Description
A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself. However there are other formats.
Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.
These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.
To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.
Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.
If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.
Additonal Information
This trig point is a stainless steel rod in core with bronze GPS plaque in a PVC pipe with cover. Located close by are three short poles, one of which has a survey mark plaque, and just over 23m away is the associated Telstra mobile phone tower mark. This trig does not have a beacon like conventional trigs.
Logs
Arrived here in the fading light and luckily could park only metres from GZ.
Great views from up here.
Thanks.
Having just found the nearby GC cache, I just spotted this one on the map before we left, so grabbed a quick pic.
Found on a west coast trip with AlbyDangles (who'd previously logged this one).
Cheers, EPs.

A quick easy trig with great views from the lookout.
I stopped off as I was leaving Strahan and found this trig. a lot easier trig to find than what I normally find.
This was one of many cache I found while travelling to Strahan to visit family and to go on a boat trip up the Gordon River.
Found at 1445
TFTC.
I had been in the area for a one night stay and called at this one in the morning before I headed back to Queenstown for work.
Nice quick find with great views.
The next person to travel to this Trig that has time to plan could help the Trig by taking a 100mm screw cap since I found the current on broken on the ground. (I have loads in the shed too)
Thanks for the great views.

The locals up here at the time must have thought we were nuts. Mind you, one of them was standing at the back of his flat tray ute playing a computer game - looked like Call of Duty....
Quite a nice view from up here as well.
