CORSnet-NSW is a precise positioning service that gives users access to fast and accurate positioning and guidance solutions across NSW. In recent years, precise positioning and guidance systems have emerged as useful tools across a variety of applications such as:

• Surveying

• Agriculture

• Construction

• Emergency services

• Mining

• Scientific research

• Asset management

CORSnet-NSW uses the latest Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) technology to provide an accurate spatial reference network for NSW and support the growing number of precise positioning and guidance applications throughout the State.

How does it work?

The service is delivered by a network of permanent GNSS receivers – known as Continuously Operating Reference Stations (CORS) – that are strategically located across NSW. The CORSnet-NSW network continuously observes and corrects satellite navigation signals in order to achieve international standard, high accuracy positioning data for NSW. The data is streamed to users via a wireless internet connection.

This CORS has been decommissioned effective 06/01/21 - see: https://www.spatial.nsw.gov.au/surveying/corsnet-nsw/network_information

I'm choosing to stay close to the sea breeze today... if there will be any in this heatwave. Doing a few cases along the coast whilst exploring it. This trig was one of them.

Note: Photo didn't load with log through app. Photo lost.

These CORS are easy, but you have to get them out of school hours.

Late this afternoon we located the Barrack Heights CORS antenna on the side of a building at Willura High School. Two photos have been added to the Gallery: Mrs y'stassie in the foreground with the CORS antenna behind; a closer view of the CORS antenna. Thanks for the cache.

Easy to spot this one from outside the school fence.

I came here on Saturday, which is likely a good day for this, as this is attached to a school. TFTC.

#GA2197 - 11:25; Took the long way to Berry via Picton Road and south past Wollongong today in what started out as rather inclement weather further south. Decided to grab a couple of trigs on the way through Shellharbour and this was the first stop. Grabbed a convenient park and then a couple of snaps through the fence. Arrived here at 4pm and spotted the CORS quickly. Unfortunately the sun right behind it made it difficult to spot in the photo. Thanks.

Spitted on a building inside a gated school so took photo from fence 80 m away. A drive by cors.

So close to home and I didn't even know about it. Only visible from 80 meters distance without going onto private property.

Got that one with great care as it is on the Warilla High School main building.

Found today with friend, a bit tricky to get a shot during school hours, please leave alone until after hours or school holidays.
