A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.
Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.
These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.
To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

I figured I go for another trigging day west. This was the 1st for the day
I call this 2 for the $ of 1 visit – completed the big 1 too.
Well I figured I drive into the small tight track & I thought I will arrive at trig. I got out of the car & was very worried where is it. On the right side of the track I found a grave or that’s what I think it is. At first, I thought it was the trig. Very unusual to see this – as it is nicely presented with rocks around it. I wonder what the story is here. Then a short wonder around straight ahead no trig, so wondered to the left side & a short walk found the trig – what a relief. Took the shots – I was hoping I got the old pin correctly & what a relief as I was logging it, I was A OK – then I could hear a loud speaker in the distance about a lock down – a guess this is from the correction centre. So, in some respects an earie experience here today. Nice to complete this in a remote area. Many thanks
