Description

Moruya Test Line PM 58066

A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

Nice walk through the bush but had some trouble finding this one.

Had a little trouble finding this one after leaving the walking track. The bush was pretty dense but Joolay managed to spot it . TFTT Geocaching Australia SmileVery HappyClan Cerberus

Once I got to this one, I looked back to see a clear corridor through the trees back to Toragy.

Today we visited Moruya Heads and whilst there we found this trig point. Two photos have been added to the Gallery: Mrs y'stassie standing next to the trig marker; and the identification name plate on the trig marker. Thanks for the cache.

Found this one after a little bush bashing nothing to hard though.I was able to just see the next one along the somewhat cleared site line.

1st of the 2 in the area. Very overgrown once you're off the walking track, but no problems grabbing the photo.

14-Jun-17
This one was much harder to access than the other two up here. When we roughly worked out where it would be Mr Beetle dropped me off and circled until I returned. Bush bashed my way to this one and was a bit wary of wriggly sticks on such a hot day in the scrub but didn't see any.
Unlike other test line trigs there is no way you can visually line these three up.
Thanks.

#GA1372 - 12:25; Out on a day trip to the coast with the geohoney and not expecting to do any caching, I didn't bring the GPSr with me. Our first port of call fell through and not wanting to land unexpectedly at a friend's place at lunch time, we decided to do some sightseeing. Headed out to Moruya Heads and grabbed some snaps of the local trigs while I was there, my thumb substituting for a GPSr Think. This one was about mid way between the other two along a track which could become overgrown not too far down the track. TFTT Geocaching Australia Very HappyClan Cerberus

Today we explored Moruya and surrounds using geocaching as a guide.

With 3 trigs in the area this was number 2 then headed off to number 3.

10-Jul-16
Found on our trip to Batemans Bay. After having some breakfast, we drove all the way to Moruya Head to get these three trigs. After parking nearby, we bashed through the bush to take a photo of the trig. Nice views around here. TFTC GCA! Clan Cerberus

I think this is the first test line we have found. Interesting. Walked on from the trig to collect. TFTT

Found with Joolay on a drive down to Moruya Heads. I found the trig a while ago and it is interesting to find this test line now. TFTC Smile

Narooma 2015 June. On the way home after diving I took the time to investigate the extra plinths on the South Head. Since I visited the 5 point lest line outside of Armidale I felt these two needed to be added to the site as well.

Thanks
