Description

Moruya Test Line PM 58067

A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

Wonderful views up here. Been a great weekend visiting the area.

18-Jan-21
I don't think I've managed to snag a trig from my car before.

22-Jan-20
Easily spotted from the road. No line of sight to either of its counterparts.

Today we visited Moruya Heads and whilst there we found this trig point. Two photos have been added to the Gallery: Mrs y'stassie standing next to the trig marker; and the identification name plate on the trig marker. Thanks for the cache.

It would have been easier to walk around the road to find it, however once I found the previous one I could see the way. As per a previous log some graffiti on it which is disappointing. TFTC.

29-Sep-17
Right on the side of the one way road, so no problems with this one either. Photo snapped and all good. Pity about the graffiti.

14-Jun-17
The last one of the three trigs photographed here today.
We drove around the one way loop a few times before spotting this one as our GPS [Garmin Nuvi] was indicating it was on the other side of the road.
A very quick snap taken here as we parked just off the road and on our last lap we could see muggles heading towards their cars to leave.
Thanks.

#GA1371 - 12:20; Out on a day trip to the coast with the geohoney and not expecting to do any caching, I didn't bring the GPSr with me. Our first port of call fell through and not wanting to land unexpectedly at a friend's place at lunch time, we decided to do some sightseeing. Headed out to Moruya Heads and grabbed some snaps of the local trigs while I was there, my thumb substituting for a GPSr Think TFTT Geocaching Australia Very HappyClan Cerberus

Today we explored Moruya and surrounds using geocaching as a guide.

The third trig in the area and a drive by too.

10-Jul-16
Found on our trip to Batemans Bay. After having some breakfast, we drove all the way to Moruya Head to get these three trigs. After parking nearby, we bashed through the bush to take a photo of the trig. Nice views around here. TFTC GCA! Clan Cerberus

Narooma 2015 June. On the way home after diving I took the time to investigate the extra plinths on the South Head. Since I visited the 5 point lest line outside of Armidale I felt these two needed to be added to the site as well.

Thanks
