Description

A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station and photograph the GZ.

Official Code: TS10611R
Official Name: Kempsey

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to. This one is on tope of a water reservoir in Jones Lane near Kempsey.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably.

Breakfast stop on a trip up for Grandads birthday and the kids wanted to find some Trigs. Chose a few easy water reservoir finds to aim for.
Izzy found this one as soon as we turned onto the street. Unfortunately trees were in the way for the photo.

Wow!! 70 weeks without a find. The only cache we got today as we passed through Kempsey.
Had to take 2 photos, one with Mr Beetle and the GPS and a close up.
Dammed tree kept blowing across in front of the trig marker.
Thanks.

#GA2684 - 10:30; Day four of the 2018 Oz GeoMuster mission with Sol de lune. After leaving the Mega yesterday afternoon and caching our way to Taree where we spent the night at a local caravan park, the plan for today was to cache our way north past Port Macquarie, then through Kempsey, Macksville, Urunga, Coffs Harbour, Grafton, Casino, Lismore and into Ballina in preparation for some caching around Byron and the Tweed before setting sail south again for home. Although not part of the original itinerary, I was able to collect a few more caches in Taree, which Sdl had picked up on previous visits. We were now headed north, caching our way along the highway and on a tour of Kempsey, stopped to grab a snap of this trig. TFTT Geocaching Australia Very HappyClan Cerberus

No problems spotting this one and the required photo was soon snapped.

After an Event at Sancrox Park I headed north to find a couple of waymarks, caches, and if possible some trigs. As I was driving out to the Kempsey Airport I saw what I was sure was a trig. And sure enough there was one sitting up high and proud on a water reservoir. A small amount of research showed that it is TS10611R, aka Kempsey TP.
Took a few photos @ 1710, and headed on. This is one you can stand directly below the trig post.
