Description

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the centre point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

Grabbed three GCA caches on this side road as we headed to Kettering to catch the ferry to Bruny Island.
Was sad to pass so many unfound caches but our main purpose for this trip south was to visit the island.
Thanks.

I was hiding moveables nearby and checked. Pin is still there as shown in photo taken today. All good.

Until Cable supplies a photograph of the destroyed trig and more information, there is no proof it is actually destroyed. With no proof supplied, my guess, it's still there, and Cable being a beginner, didn't know what they were looking for. (Also, how can they log a find on what they didn't find.)

01-Jul-20
it's destroyed now

followed the map to the trig point in question the grass was quite sodden with wheel ruts tearing the grass so it was careful walking to the Trig Point, took one picture with the cap on and several with it off. simple task, job done in seconds.

I parked on the other side of Groningen Rd and as I walked towards the trig, I noticed a pram. Used recently, just abandoned. Went and took the requisite photo and on my way back, the pram owners turned up, walking up the road with the little one in tow.

Since I was down in the area I called in for this one as I was passing, having done a few of the other caches round here a long time ago it was nice to spot some new finds in the area. Had no problem finding the marker and soon had the picture taken.
