A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to access.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on 'Log this Cache' and placing an 'Archived' log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty/terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

Out on the water with Team737 and barefootjeff today. The water was so calm and we had a great day. A bit of a scramble up to get the trig but worth it for the view. Thanks for the trig

I was out kayaking on Lake Macquarie today with Team737 and Mighty Minions, visiting a few water-access trigs. After launching at the Nords Wharf boat ramp, this was our first stop. Having sprained my ankle during last Sunday's caching exploits, I paddled a bit further around the point to see if I could see an easier way up and there might well have been but it was too overgrown to use, so instead I hobbled back around to where the others had beached and watched them do the climb. Attached is a photo Lee took of me holding my GPSr and looking up at the trig, I hope that's near enough.

We had a great day out on the water in the area today, going for lakeside trigs via kayak, with Mighty Minions and barefootjeff in our flotilla. We could spot this one from a way back... gee I hope we can climb up to it! A quick scouting trip and we found a rocky/brushy scramble line up to the trig without problems.

A day's adventure seek with rogerw3 of listed, and unlisted but hoped to be discovered still in place, trigs on the coastal side of Lake Macquarie.

Joint FTF at 12.20 pm ... a park at the gates along the highway and a good track walk all the way to the shoreline of Lake Macquarie at Wallarah Point. The trig complete with name plate is at the very tip of the point and sheltered by trees.

Out and about with Whitemushroom on a trig expedition along the Central Coast.

An interesting walk along a well defined track to the point, the local colliery has long been closed so no problem there.
