Established by the Department of Public Works for the Lake Hydro Survey as PWD18.
A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.
Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.
These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

Ran into fitzy_1965 and the gang, along with Albida33 as they were making there way back from the back. Good to see a points heading for this trig. No problems with this one and the trig was soon spotted.

Another smiley to come from GA2703, for this not being logged since rogerw3 in March 2016.
Discovered towards the end of a long day ... a drive across the narrow access bridge to parking next to the pleasant picnic grounds of Coon Island. The trig is further along the tidy grasslands and easily accessible but did appear, though it is stable, to be somewhat undermined.
A very nice walk along the shore of Coon Island, the has been partly buried due to the sea wall construction but the top is still visible.
