Description

PWD SM15 TS10645

Official name of this Trig Station as per NSW Department of Lands is: PWD SM15.

Serial number is: TS10645.

Last Inspected on: No Data.

Elevation is: 2 metres.

Established by the Department of Public Works for the Lake Hydro Survey as PWD15.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

#GA2649 - 10:10; Day three of the 2018 Oz Geomuster mission with Sol de lune. After a day hitting the geoart trail put out for the muster with Sdl and albida33 yesterday, today was all about finding GCA caches and perhaps picking up a dragonZone or two in the process. The plan for the day was to start in Morisset (naturally enough), work our way around Lake Macquarie and in to Newcastle, then on to Maitland and Abermain before heading back to camp. There had been a change of plans when there was a heavy overnight fog which left our tarps quite wet, so we decided to hit the trail, then return to camp to collect our swags once things had dried out later in the day, before heading for points north. This was the next of many stops around the lake today. They provided some great views and plenty of trig 'points'! This was probably the least inspiring location we visited today! Oz Geo Muster weekend Easter 2018. The second day of the Mega around Lake Maquarie saw me caching with Fitzy_1965 & Minnek. Plenty more of these lake side survey markers to keep us occupied throughout the day

Day three of an Easter trip with LuckyL10n to the 2018 Morisset Mega. Headed up via the northern beach suburbs of Sydney to grab a few trigs and dragonZones along the way. From there it was a trip around the lake to find a good assortment of trigs. A great day out while heading further north.

No problems with this one and the trig was soon spotted although it wasn't where I thought it would be...

Another trig and another dragonZone crossed off. Thanks for the fun....

A day's adventure seek with rogerw3 of listed, and unlisted but hoped to be discovered still in place, trigs on the coastal side of Lake Macquarie.

Discovered towards the end of a long trig seeking day ... alongside Channel St outside neat and tidy housing, nicely placed on the kerbside.

Out and about with Whitemushroom on a trig expedition along the Central Coast.

A very easy find as this one was placed on the kerb across the street.
