A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to access.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on 'Log this Cache' and placing an 'Archived' log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty/terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

I met up here with Mighty Minions, Banj5150 and Team737 for some local caching before heading up to the Blue Mountains. After finding the new trig marker, we had a good look around for this one but, even though Lee had found it a couple of years ago, we could see no trace of it now.

The team was out today on a little road caching trip to celebrate our 4000th GC find, so headed down the Putty Rd and into the Blue Mountains. We managed a handful of trigs as well as poising ourself at 3999 for the main event (in the rain it seems) tomorrow....
It's always fun to search for these old ones, a bit like a sneaky CORS.... Samuel spotted this one today...

came here with Outdoornut22, we couldn't find the metal box people had been taking photos of but looks like it is gone. we did find a concrete pad with a copper nail in it close by

07-Aug-20
it looks to me that the whole metal PM survey mark box with the brass plug inside has been removed as the correct distance and bearing from the concrete pillar there is a square hole in the ground (as outlined in the sketch map). However I did manage to find the concrete square and copper nail buried under some sand and leaf litter about 2m to the north. https://maps.six.nsw.gov.au/SketchPlansWS/rest/getSketchPlans?surveyMark=TS5552&outputType=current

On a short trip as I was at Wilberforce, I continued up the Putty road to complete a couple of trigs on this windy day. Nice parking at trig so it’s a drive by in my book. 2 for the $ of I visit as I completed the new 1 also – many thanks. Clan Griffin

#GA2346 - 14:12; Day two of the Macquarie mayhem cache hunt with Sol de lune and andrewbt. After a big day one with 56 out 59 finds, we were optimistic about another successful day two. A few cold ones, a few logs and a few more claims for the States of the Nation game set the scene for a good night's sleep and a spring in our step as we packed up and hit the trail again today. Hope the CO's are enjoying all the Karma points rolling in as we get through our logs Whistle. Parked the geomobile and wandered in to GZ for a double treat with two trigs, old (this one) and new. When I came for the trig, I didn't know öld trigs existed. Now I know. I have a few trigs to revisit.

Popped up here this afternoon with teamMerlin. After an easy walk to GZ the two trigs were quickly spotted.

03-Jan-17
Took a late afternoon drive up the Putty Road in order to get both of the trigs at this location. Parked nearby and after a short walk spotted the main trig on approach and then spotted the cover for this trig.
