A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to access.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on 'Log this Cache' and placing an 'Archived' log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty/terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

A lovely sunny day. Stopped by on my way for a walk to Crawford's Lookout and down to Wollemi Creek. It's been ages since I found a trig!

Great afternoon out with the team. It has been a strange time for caching as a group, but every once in a while is great.

Out collecting the nearby Old School cache Delicate Sound of Thunder...and collecting some trigs on the way back out. Parked about 90m from the summit and walked up the ridge to the trig. Great to see that the trig is still here. Vains are still here, albeit a bit rusty and no longer attached to the mast. Mast has seen better days and looks as though it partially succumbed to the fire.

It was 1 of those days you have lunch & you just want to get out there – so today grabbed to car keys & a bottle of water & hit the road hard (watching too much hard quiz) time was against me & was able to complete this 1 but not the other 1 down the track – that’s next time. Was able to drive to be close by & did the walk to the top. The fires have really torn through here, vegetation very much thinned out since rogerw3 & whitemushroom found & published this trig. The view is a 360-degree view & I just soaked it up – love these places. When I placed my gps & started taking photos it was reading 2 metres out, after taking the photos I looked & it was reading 0 metres out, rogerw3 & whitemushroom did an excellent job with the co-ordinates. Many thanks again Dancing

out to get a few trigs up the putty with Outdoornut22 today. really beautiful day to be out and about. This Trig is pretty cool and has done well in its harsh climate

Sophoutloud and I set out to get a few trigs up the Putty Road from home on a beautiful winters day. After a poor start not finding Parr Spur we were happy to walk up from the road and see this one sitting proudly on top of the hill. The base has faired well after the fires but the mast is quite crispy and the vanes have now fallen down and are on the ground next to it.

On a trig wandering day with rogerw3 ...

A turn off to the Coloul Range Trail and for the GeoReindeer a reasonably good road all the way to the gate near Hollow Rock parking area.

There was suitable parking at around the 10km mark and it was for a short uphill clamber through light bush to this trig ... enclosed in a pretty garden of new growth plants. Likely unseen for many many years this stone cairn with wooden mast and drooping vanes is a testament to its construction standing the ravages of time (and its builder's ingenuity). This is a trig that makes a day out and such a find a pleasure rarely gained.

Found today with Whitemushroom on our Trig hunt northward.

This and Hollow Rock are undoubtedly the pick of the day, a lovely surprise has the trig reveals itself through the regenerating bush.

A long drive on well kept dirt track, but well worth the trouble.
