A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to access.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on 'Log this Cache' and placing an 'Archived' log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty/terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

What a great spot - we came in by 4WD, found the old GC cache nearby, then I climbed up for this cool trig....

Stopped by on my way back after a walk to Crawford's Lookout and Wollemi Creek. The views from Crawford's Lookout are fantastic. The views from Hollow Rock are pretty good too. Found a few surveying marks on the rock (triangle, nail, and convict symbol) and took photos of all. Very impressed with the rock formation.

1st off I would like to thank rogerw3 & whitemushroom for doing the HARD work here in publishing this trip – with a light drizzle & the top or rock getting a little wet I wasn’t up there for long as I wanted to get down before the rock got too wet & slippery. This location is what trigging is all about – THE VIEW – what an amazing location this is – completed the GC cache also – a fav from me – many thanks

Out collecting the nearby Old School cache Delicate Sound of Thunder, collecting this trig on the way back out. Found a few additional marks in the nearby rock such as a large arrow and small diamond. Didn't venture up onto the top and basically just admired the fantastic view that is available for this location.

Sophoutloud and I set out to get a few trigs up the Putty Road from home on a beautiful winters day. We followed on the road from six brothers trig and soon found the carpark for the short walk out to Hollow Rock. Finding cool places like this is why I Geocache. We clambered up on top of the rock and actually found 2 different marks one that was photographed in previous logs and another further over with the classic spot and arrows pointing at it.

On a trig wandering day with rogerw3 ...

A turn off to the Coloul Range Trail and for the GeoReindeer a reasonably good road all the way to the gate near Hollow Rock parking area, approximately 13 km out.

It was a well-defined 250 m or so walking track along the narrow ridgeline to the outstanding and aptly named Hollow Rock. The trig is above, an engraved marker with pin. Not for the faint-hearted to capture ... an icon to surveyor boldness.

Found today with Whitemushroom on our Trig hunt northward.

This and Six Brothers are undoubtedly the pick of the day, neither one of us expected to find this one, but if you are game enough you can get on top of the arch and get to the trig. No beacon was ever erected over it due to the sensitive nature of the site.
