Description
Jervis Bay Lighthouse Old TS10099
Official name of this Trig Station as per NSW Department of Lands is: Jervis Bay Lighthouse Old.
Serial number is: TS10099.
Last inspected on: No Data.
Elevation is: 28 meters.
The remains of the barrel of the old lighthouse is still classified as a passive trig, probably only for historical value.
A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.
Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.
These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.
To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

Gorgeous day and gorgeous views here.
Made sure we left the area before all the light was gone.
Spent some time wandering around checking out the ruins. Particularly interesting was the tragedies that occurred amongst the residents of the lighthouse here.
Whales were passing too so got good value out of the $11 entry fee.
Thanks.
Found during a work trip to the region.
I've been out to this lighthouse several times before, this trip was for the trig and as it turned out a virtual as well.
TFTC !!
Cape St George Lighthouse is of historical importance particularly because of the bungling surrounding its construction. The relevant authority, the Pilots Board, was not consulted about its construction. Had they been it is almost certain the lighthouse would have been constructed at Point Perpendicular, where a replacement was built in 1889.
At the far end of the Booderee reserve grounds on a drive along reasonably good tracks to the parking area and then a short walk up to the remains of this old lighthouse (deliberately blown up!). The base building and its signposted rooms are in good viewing condition but there is scant left of the circular tower ... the large sandstone building blocks a swathe of toppled ruin are in place where fallen.
A lovely area even if you have to pay the ACT National Parks to get in. Tele shot of the lighthouse in the mist from Murrays Hill Trig.
