Description

L1 TS?

Official name of this Trig Station as per NSW Department of Lands is: L1.

Serial number is: TS number not allocated.

Last Inspected on: No data.

Elevation is: 86 metres.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

First of a handful of trig finds while out exploring Waragamba Dam today with the family. After sanpping his mate, this was quickly spotted from across the other side of the dam, Photo snapped and attached.
We had a great morning out here exploring the area. Make sure you go into the visitors centre, what a great kid friendly set up they have. The geokiddies loved it and we enjoyed learning about the history of this place.
Thanks for the trig Geocaching Australia.

Found this morning from our nearby camp. We are here for a family reunion organised by a cousin from Perth whose dad worked on the construction of the dam way back when! Aunty still lives in their original home. We had a great time trying to track down more of these virtual caches. So different from what I remember from my visits here as a kid.

I needed help to spot this one. Luckily there were others around with better eyes.

On a fine Sunday afternoon I planned a trip to Warragamba dam to chase trig points knowing that on the weekend and public holidays there is pedestrian access out to the wall and picnic area on the eastern side of the main spillway.
The third of several snapped today. Use a telephoto camera for the shot.

Out to Warragamba Dam with rogerw3 and pjmpjm for a walk around and, as it proved, a handful of near and distant(monitoring) trigs circling the dam. L1 discovered below the dam wall, across from the public viewing platform.

A trip to Warragamba Dam with pjmpjm and whitemushroom was rewarded with this Trig.

What a treat to get up close and personal with the dam, keep in mind you can only access this area on weekends.
